We had the good fortune of connecting with John Barnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor is love, God an family, that’s what success is for my brand. Also spreading the message of different cultures, through fashion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

We have our Unisex section which is GF “Berlin”,our Women/Girls/Accessories section is “Sierra Leone” ,our Men’s/Boys Section is “GoldFeather Morocco” an every piece has its own individual story, we provide nice elegant affordable clothing.

Goldfeather is just more than fashion, we like to shed light on a lot of African culture. I just feel the African culture doesn’t get as much as credibility as it should. We at Goldfeather bring class, elegance to all cultures. I’m proud about having a platform to spread the message about my mothers story an being able to multiply that into other avenues of my companies purpose. I came from Newport News Virginia to Atlanta seeking a higher level an opportunity, I’ve always been sharp an aware an responsible an hard working, I was blessed be surrounded by great folks of all different places around the world. An no the transition was not easy at all but I managed an prayed more than anything. I overcame challenges by doin the foot work meaning getting out of my cool comfort zone an started creating the perfect situation for my brand. One lesson I’ve along the way is take your time, it doesn’t matter what’s out there an success is love an family. I want the world to know love what you do, love God, hustle for your last name not your first, respect few fear no one. I want people to know

The Story GoldFeather: I was boxing up My Mom room a place where she never let us go in often as kids. I was doing it all alone by myself I seen a cloudy vision next o her window it blew her blinds up An her drapes as well, An then a big white goldish bird feather came from no where An landed on her bed man it broke me in half. I kept the feather An put it in a ziplock bag then about 4 months later it came to me, an I wanted to keep her legacy alive An find my peace, An so I did Angels ARE REAL. She’s the reason behind my entire movement (Gold Feather 🍂) I’m for ever thankful for every purchase, it’s not about the money it’s about what I’m standing for, An if you aren’t standing for something you’ll fall for anything. Everyone has a story behind each “Gold Feather” it’s not just fashion, it’s a lifestyle.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I barely have time away from my business but I do recommend a few good gentleman Rich an Ivan of “Elite Stars Ent” an also a good awesome promoter “Beezy The Great”. The places that I attende often are called Atlantis ,CopperCove, Republic,Compounds, Aurua an GoldRoom a few good classy places to catch a good vibe.
