We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Carroll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joe, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My boss and I, Bill Carter, started Doctor Ink Eraser with the idea of providing high quality laser tattoo removal at an affordable price. Prior to our opening, most tattoo removal in Atlanta was done at a doctor’s office. There is nothing wrong with going through the removal process at a doctor’s office, but we found many clients would complain about an inflated price and sub par results. At Doctor Ink Eraser, we utilize state of the art equipment, have multiple options for near painless tattoo removal, and provide a level of customer service that you can’t get anywhere else.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Doctor Ink Eraser has had an incredible run in the past 9 years, and we now have 4 successful locations across the SE, with three in Georgia and one in Alabama. I believe our customer service sets us apart from all of our competitors. As a small business, we pride ourselves on clients having direct and consistent access to everyone involved. Also, we continue to explore and add new tattoo removal techniques, such as the PFD Patch and Zimmer shockwave, to get clients results as soon as possible; furthermore, we are the only clinic I know of that provides numb cream, laughing gas, and the Sub Zero chilling system to provide clients with a near painless tattoo removal procedure.

As a small business, particularly in the time of COVID, we have had many struggles, but we have come out the other side better and more prepared than ever to help our clients with their tattoo removal needs. One of the important factors we have learned is educating your client base is the best way for clients to feel a part of the removal process. We are a small, local company who employs people in the Atlanta area and are excited to continue to make our mark in this great city.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Personally, I love the Battery and going to Truist Park. I am a lifelong Braves fan and am super excited for the World Series. I would recommend spending some time in NW midtown at the numerous breweries and dining can range from fancy to casual. As a golfer, I love that the Atlanta area offers so many quality, public golf courses that are reasonably priced.

For a chill day, I would suggest the aquarium which is always amazing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Bill Carter is the owner of Doctor Ink Eraser and has been a successful business throughout his entire working career. He enabled me to run with our dream of opening and running a laser tattoo removal business that caters to all individuals. Throughout our 9 years of business, he has been integral in business decisions and invaluable in his advice on running a small business. He has been an extremely important mentor in my life and my one true boss.
