We had the good fortune of connecting with Jocelyn Wykoff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jocelyn, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Certainly, the concept of work-life balance has undergone a significant transformation for me over the years. Earlier in my career, I was of the mindset that hard work and long hours were synonymous with success. I bought into the culture of ‘busyness,’ thinking that if I wasn’t constantly on the go, I was falling behind. However, this eventually led to burnout, affecting not only my work performance but also my relationships and overall well-being.

Over time, I’ve come to realize the immense value of setting boundaries and having a routine that prioritizes both work and personal time. I used to think of time as this infinitely flexible resource that I could bend at will. But experience has taught me that time is incredibly precious, and it’s crucial to make every second count, particularly with family and friends who offer emotional support and joy.

After implementing these changes, I noticed something fascinating: the quality of my work actually improved. By ensuring that I’m not constantly tired, stressed, or run down, I find that I am far more engaged, efficient, and even creative when I do work. I’m able to approach problems with a fresh perspective because I’ve allowed myself the mental space to recharge and rejuvenate. It’s a virtuous cycle: taking time off improves my work, which then makes my time off more enjoyable because I’m not burdened by the stress of underperforming at work.

So, in sum, my approach to work-life balance has matured into one that values quality over quantity, in both personal and professional spheres. And I can say, without a doubt, that understanding the intricacies of this balance has been life-changing for me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Absolutely, I’m thrilled to share more about my business. What sets me apart from others in the industry is I’m more than just a marketing agency – I’m your partner in growth that is going to treat your company as if it were my own. I take immense pride in being able to not only ‘do a service’ for a client but to also teach them the ‘why’ behind it.

Getting to where I am today was no walk in the park. It took years of hard work, research, building relationships, and failures. There were times when projects didn’t go as I had hoped, and it was a steep learning curve.

Along the way, some of the invaluable lessons I’ve learned include that marketing is a ‘living, breathing process – not a project’ which has shaped not just the business but also my approach to life and leadership.

If there’s one thing I want the world to know about my brand, it is that it was created just for you. I’m more than just a business; I’m a partner that believes in doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do.

So, that’s a quick snapshot of my journey so far, and I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds. Thank you for letting me share a bit about what makes me unique and what I’m most proud of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, if my best friend were visiting for a week, I already have the perfect itinerary lined up to give them the best time ever! Our small town (Social Circle) and surrounding areas are absolute gems that are often overlooked but are filled with charm and character.

Day 1: We’d kick off the week with some authentic Mexican cuisine at Tacos & Beer in Monroe, GA. The ambiance and the food there are fantastic; it’s one of my favorite local spots.

Day 2: We’d head over to Southern Brewing Company, also in Monroe, for some drinks. They have an amazing selection, and it’s a great place to catch up and relax.

Day 3-4: These days would be for enjoying the tranquility of our farm in Sparta, GA. There’s nothing like sitting and rocking on the porch with a hot cup of coffee, taking in the peaceful surroundings. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Day 5: A visit to Hard Labor Creek State Park, which is just about a mile from us, would be on the agenda. Whether it’s hiking, picnicking, or just taking in the natural beauty, the park offers a great outdoor experience.

Day 6-7: I’d leave these days open to explore some more hidden gems in our small towns. The slower pace allows you to truly soak in the charm, whether it’s visiting a local craftsman, enjoying a small-town diner, or simply strolling through scenic streets.

Small towns are the best — they’re like little pockets of simplicity and charm that let you breathe, and ours is no exception. I can’t think of a better way to share what I love about this area than with a week-long tour like this one.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, when it comes to attributing my success and well-being to someone, it’s hands down my husband. His unwavering support has been the cornerstone of all my achievements. I can confidently say that without him, my dreams would not be materializing the way they are right now. From being my sounding board to offering emotional strength and encouragement, he’s been there through thick and thin. He’s the one who reminds me to maintain that work-life balance we were just talking about, and he makes it easier to prioritize what really matters.

Whether it’s helping me strategize for work projects or taking on more than his fair share of responsibilities at home to give me the bandwidth to focus, his support is truly invaluable. And let’s not forget the emotional and mental support that is often so crucial but understated; he’s always there with words of encouragement or just a listening ear when I need it.

So, my shoutout undoubtedly goes to my husband. Every accomplishment, every milestone, and every dream realized has his fingerprints all over it. Thank you for being my rock and for walking this journey with me.
