We had the good fortune of connecting with Joanna Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joanna, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for your children?
I love being a parent and I truly believe being one is a wonderful thing. My daughter is still very young, and as her biggest role model I try to show her that we are responsible for our own happiness in life.
I definitely want her to always be herself have a great self-esteem , be kind to herself and others, sets big goals and dream big !
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love capturing moments and photography allows me to do so. What sets me apart from others, I think I really don’t try to compare my work or myself to other artists and try to stay true to who I’m as an artist. The tendency of trying to compare our work to others and being afraid of judgment makes it very difficult to know exactly what your art is. So in my opinion, the biggest challenge is remembering to be yourself and not to be afraid to express it. Capturing moments that will turn into unforgivable memories has always been my goal and I try to give this to my clients.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lets start with saying that Atlanta is a great city to live and to visit. There is always something to do. Since there are so many different places and restaurants it’s really hard to choose. Here are just few of my favorite places and restaurants and I do have to mention I’m a very picky eater and I do cook at home a lot. Sokongdong Tofu House for dinner is a must. Good Word Brewing & Public House for lunch and a good local beer Downtown Duluth. Tabla for some Indian food. With my vegan friends lunch at Herbal Fix. Golden Eagle and Apres Diem for cocktails. A family walk on Beltline, lunch and some shopping to support local artist at Ponce City Market. With my friends who have kids since I’m a parent myself we would visit: Fernbank museum, Aquarium, Center for Puppetry Arts and many amazing playgrounds.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My one and only beautiful model – my daughter Chloe !
