We had the good fortune of connecting with Jill & David Scruggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jill & David, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Jill and I are inspired by women who come to One Soul Boudoir hoping to find self-worth and bolster their self-esteem after living through trauma. It takes a conscious decision to trust someone. It takes letting go of fears. It takes opening oneself to the idea that you deserve to feel valuable, to be valued. That you’re worth something. That you’re worthy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We’re intensely engaged creatives. We focus on surfacing and capturing the inner strengths of our clients. We upturn stones to find the empassioned provocateur in our most staid clients. We love breaking the intensity with an unexpected wisecrack that triggers a beautifully spontaneous laugh. We love when our clients follow us beyond their comfort zone to create fine art portraits that they find simply astonishing.

There’s so much more to our genre than throwing a client on a bed in lingerie and snapping photos. So much more.

We strive to create art with profound meaning. Sometimes it’s cute, sometimes feminine, sometimes serene, sometimes unsettling, and always powerful. We create what moves our clients to love themselves unconditionally.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Three-13 Salon and Spa for a little “me” time. Then a stroll through the Atlanta Botanical Garden for fresh air and flora.
Finally, dinner out at Bones Restaurant, for a nice filet.
But always Bones.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We’ve learned so much from educators and mentors in our business — Jerry Ghionis, Easton Reynolds, Jenn Bruno Smith, David Hilton, and Sue Bryce always come to mind. Their influences are apparent in every quarter of our business.
