We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what do you attribute your success to?
I’d be lying if I said there was only one factor. I honestly can’t choose just one because they all work hand in hand. Success would not happen with just one and without the others. The most important factors behind my success/the success of my brand is God, hard work, and tunnel vision. I put God as the head of my brand. It’s His. I pray over every goal, every business move, and every thought that’s put into my business. The moment I let God take lead of my business, I saw success immediately. However, faith without works is dead. Hard work follows right after. I’m the type to say a prayer then go get what I just prayed for! I bust my ass 24/7 working on my business and pushing myself to new lengths. I’m a real hustler forreal. If I want something, it’s mine. If I set a goal, it’s surpassed. Last one is tunnel vision. You will never succeed in life worrying about what the next person is doing or comparing yourself to competitors around you. I focus on me and my business solely. I don’t see anybody but me. I am my own competition. Me vs. Me. Every day I am trying to be better than the Jess I was yesterday, constantly beating goals and challenging myself. I’m focused on my end goal and not letting anything get in the way of my success.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is Lavish Girl Enterprises, LLC. It’s an online store that sells hair, retail, and beauty products. I also am a certified lash technician. My business will be 2 years old in July. It’s came a long way! I think what sets me apart from others the most, is that I actually love what I do. I’m not just in this for the money or because entrepreneurship is a trend right now. I was born to be a businesswoman. Nothing else works for me, nothing else intrigues me. I have a passion for this. I’m constantly working to provide the best service to customers. I actually care about them. They’re the reason for my businesses’ success. My intentions are always pure, there’s not one person that can ever say that they shopped with me and I tried to get over on them or just gave them poor service. If I ever made a mistake, it was fixed immediately and I catered to the customer. This is the only way for me. I’m not interested in anything else. I also cater to all social classes. My prices have never been outrageous or unreasonable. I’ve experienced financial struggles before, I know what it’s like to not grow up knowing luxury or having the name brand clothes and shoes. That’s the audience I reach out to and help the most. Everybody should be able to feel beautiful and have access to my services. I’m always willing to work something out because I care. God and hard work is how I got to where I am today. My day to day is full of prayer and pushing myself to fulfill my goals and dreams. I’ve never doubted myself. I knew I was different since I was young. I’m special. There’s some kind of fire in me that tells me to go get it! I’m very determined and ambitious. I never doubt myself either, but I think a lot of that comes from my trust in God. Confidence is key! It’s never easy. But nothing worth having is easy, ever. Success is a long road of trials and tribulations but crossing that finish line will be a feeling like no other. I already know it’s coming, I just got to keep going and stay focused. Positive affirmations, manifestation, and prayer helps me a lot. When it comes to business you can’t doubt yourself, you’ll trip yourself out.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmm, if my best friend came out here for a trip we’re for sure going to a hookah bar/club. I love me a nice chill vibe. Probably Eden lounge or Ace. We’d definitely have to go to LT’’s Wings or JR Crickets. We’d probably spend some time on Edgewood Ave to walk around and chill at some spots. I keep hearing Slutty Vegan is really good but never ate there so Id have to knock that out for sure. Club again lol. Hookah, hookah, hookah. Out for drinks, all that. I don’t go out much though, so I actually don’t know too many spots .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ll never forget the hand my best friend, Nakia Mckinney played in my success. I met her in college at Fayetteville State University. She was my teammate, we played volleyball together. She was the first young boss I ever met! She was a lash technician, sold hair, made wigs, did hair, she did EVERYTHING. We ended up getting really close and realizing that we were both into entrepreneurship. She had been in the business realm awhile so she put me on game to a lot of things! She was the one that got me into lashes and actually did my certification the second time around. I learned a lot from her. We learn from each other. We’re always bouncing ideas off of each other and working together to help each other’s businesses. Wherever I go in life, I’m taking her with me! She’s a real one. Always genuine. It’s some friends that will see you succeeding and get jealous or switch up. It’s never been like that with her! We build each other up. Wherever I’m lacking, she’ll help and vise versa. She definitely deserves a shoutout. Love you bestie!
