Meet Jessica Smith | Work From Home Mom & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Before marriage and motherhood, I didn’t have a work life balance AT ALL! Working retail from the time I was a senior in high school up until I began working remote two years ago, seems like such a blur because I was working almost every weekend and holiday. Not to mention taking online classes, doing freelance personal styling and event coordinating when I did have free time. It’s crazy to think I ever did all of that with hardly any rest days. Once I got married, I dreaded working on the weekends and not being able to spend quality time with my husband on his off days. When I found out I was pregnant I knew I was going to do whatever needed for me to be present for my daughter, especially during the early years, and not be tired because I was working long hours and weekends. God is so generous! A few weeks after I returned to work from maternity leave, I landed a remote position, at the company I was working for, with weekends and holidays off! Being able to be home and not miss my daughter’s milestones, while still feeling fulfilled in my career, has been the greatest blessing.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This April will mark 13 years with my company. These past two years of being on the corporate versus retail side of the business has given me the opportunity to still do what I love the most, which is to maintain and strengthen business relationships with key accounts. My current role offers me the chance to do that from the comfort of my own home with the best work life balance I’ve ever had in my entire career. That work life balance gives me a chance to create content for brands, another thing that I am really passionate about. Being able to quickly problem solve or turn a bad experience into a good one for my customers is one avenue that has taught me how to work well with people from all walks of life. That customer service experience helps me to provide the best content possible for the brands that I work with and create content for. What I am the most proud of is finding a balance that leaves me feeling fulfilled in my career, my hobbies, and most importantly, fulfilled as a wife and mother. Being able to perform well at work and exceed my weekly metrics while still being present for myself, my husband and my daughter means the world to me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am such a homebody these days so I’m actually shocked I have answers for this question (lol). I would take her to The Southern Gentleman for their shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes and mimosas for brunch, The Studio Pilates for a private group sesh, Urban Grind for an iced Matcha Latte, the Beltline for a hot girl walk and yap, and Colony Square for vibey pics in cute outfits.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the sovereignty and grace of God. 10 years ago my life was all over the place and if anyone would have asked me if I could see myself living in all these answered prayers, the answer would have been no! He gets all of the glory, first and foremost. Aside from Him, I have been blessed with such an amazing tribe. My husband is the best husband and father I could ever ask for and goes above and beyond to provide my daughter and I with a life that is soft and peaceful. Our parents, siblings and friend group are such an amazing village for us and our daughter, who has been the best thing to ever happen to me. These two years as a girl mom have made me grow as a woman, in ways unimaginable! I’m just so very grateful to do life with each and every one of them.
