We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Galfas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Behind my success you’ll find a combination of never giving up and constantly letting go. I started off with a general idea of what success looked like for me. That vision has been my north star for years: Help entrepreneurs reach their financial goals and actually feel good about it. Turns out this vision was my big “why” and it’s the one thing that’s never changed. However, all of the specifics on HOW I would realize my vision changed again and again. First it was business coaching, then operations management, and now I’m the CEO of a creative marketing firm. I had to let go of what I thought my title should be, who I thought our target market would include, and even the specific services the business would offer. I had to let go of all of the “how” while never giving up on my “why” because after all, success is relative.

What should our readers know about your business?
A lot of our clients get started with us because they know we offer social media management. Creating on-brand content and sharing it consistently is a full-time job our clients don’t have time for, so they hire us. For us though, it’s not just about being present online, it’s about providing value to your audience whether it’s with product and service offerings or entertainment. We often have to educate our clients about creating content intentionally depending on their business goals. I love this because I get to use my coaching background to help the client create S.M.A.R.T. goals by asking questions like, do you want to drive website sales, increase foot traffic, grow your following, or something else? Each one of those goals would guide us to create very different content. With existing clients, we’re extremely intentional about using performance insights on previously published content to drive the creative direction for the next round of content creation. We don’t need to post what you like, we need to post what your audience likes! Listening to the audience by reviewing data insights is the main thing we do when we create content.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Visit Morningside Farmers Market Saturday morning to find the oldest and only all-organic market in Atlanta. It has fresh organic produce, flowers and herbs from the people who actually grew it! Talk to Farmer Chris at the Sparta Gardens booth to find out how to cook whatever cool crops are in season. After that I’d recommend visiting the High Museum of Art to see the latest exhibit or hang out at Fetch, a dog park and bar where you can go with or without your own pup. I love dog watching and don’t have my own so this is the perfect place to grab a beer, pet some furry cuties, and hangout with the nice dog-loving people of Atlanta. After that I’d support a local restaurant like Little Bear in Summerhill to get some super creative grub and craft cocktails. Everything I’ve ever tasted there punched my taste buds with the best kind of flavor explosions. End the night with some fun at Painted Pin where you can bowl, play skee ball, or beat a friend at shuffleboard. That’s the good life in Atlanta!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My business partner, Erin C. Kadzis, is pretty much the entire reason I’m currently CEO of JEM Agency. Without her relentless push to partner together, I would still be freelancing as a single gun-for-hire instead of managing 3-5 contractors who are experts in varying aspects of graphic design, website development, SEO, email marketing, and social media management. Now we’re able to provide entrepreneurs a variety of the services they really need without having to be an expert in everything.
