Meet Jessica Covington | Legal Administrative Professional & Freelance Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Covington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Tifton, a small town in South Georgia. I was raised in a community environment where family and God were most important. Year round I was always super busy playing multiple sports, traveling and in band, so I was very versatile. Looking back I appreciate all of these components because they helped instill values of integrity, acceptance and humility. These are values that I carry with me today.

What should our readers know about your business?
Daily, I work as a professional legal administrative assistant. I manage the schedules and filings for corporate attorneys practicing civil litigation. After 5, I enjoy taking photos as a freelance model and I spend my time giving back to my community. Currently, I am an executive director of a mentorship program called Poised. This program was birth by my Shepard, Dr. Gabriel Powell under his non-profit organization,”Made for Bigger, Inc.” We spend time with young ladies in High School who want to become the best version of themselves. Not only do we discuss appearance and the importance of self-maintenance but also leadership, career, success and self esteem. Throughout this process I have learned, everyone has a story and we all have something to give. I believe that we can learn from anyone but I found value in knowing who I am, what I stand for and being okay with not compromising my standards or beliefs. As mentors, we push our ladies to understand how important this is and how it ultimately leads to a focused, fulfilling and peaceful life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the city of Atlanta! The culture here is unmatched. There are so many popular places to visit but there are just as many hidden gems. During a staycation with friends, I would plan a day at the beautiful Centennial Park for a cute picnic and sip and paint. We would also have a nice bike ride on the belt line. Sky Barre is a fun way to get a nice workout in, through their Ariel silk classes. Some of my favorite places to eat and play are The Painted Duck and Skyline Park. And finally, just for the experience, we would attend a nice ballet, visit the Illuminarium or the High Museum of Art. None the less, there is something for everyone!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A huge thank you to my friends and family for their love and support, my mentors and coaches for their direction and guidance and my Pastor and ministry for providing community and room for growth.
