We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesse Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesse, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
There are several factors that have contributed to my business success/growth. First, my faith. It keeps me grounded and focused on what really matters and it helps me to stay in alignment with who I am assigned to serve and why. Second, my commitment to being a relatable authority. Traditional business says that in order for a business leader to be respected, they have to fit a certain mold. And if they don’t, they won’t be successful. However, I’ve found that when I show up in the marketplace with boldness and authenticity, the people who need what I have are drawn to that, and they do business with me because they can see a piece of themselves in me. There is no separation between who I am in real life and how I show up in the marketplace. I’ve decided not to compromise the integrity of this truth.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

As the COO, of Kingdom Mogul Coaching, my assignment is to help business leaders grow their faith as they grow their business. Currently, I am facilitating a group and private program that helps first time authors discover, build, monetize their Kingdom message. What I love about my work is that I get to walk my clients through a process that helps them cultivate their life experiences, identify the transformational principles in those experiences, and then convert those principles into a book/message they can monetize. What I’m seeing consistently is that my clients are literally being transformed and healed through the process. I remember when I wrote my first book. I had no clue about how to start, or how to market and promote my work. I would compare myself to other authors and speakers, but that only intensified my frustration. It took me a few years, and I fumbled my way through the process, but I was determined to find my rhythm.

Through it all, I learned that the most important thing I could do was to find my authentic voice and grow from there. In everything that I do, my goal is to lead with no apologies and to influence others from a position of service. This is the aroma of my business. Whether in a coaching session or if I walk onto a stage to deliver a talk, the primary questions that I ask myself are, “Jesse, how can you serve the room? What do they need, and what do you have that can fill their need?” Leadership is not about what we can get from people, it’s about what we can get to them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend visited my city for a week, my itinerary would consists of good food, relaxation, and rich/purposeful encounters. Monday would be a light day as we would have brunch at Hudson Cafe and then head over to the Motown Museum. Tuesday we’d have breakfast at a local Coney Island and then head to the mall to walk off the food, do a little shopping and then probably catch a midday movie. On Wednesday I would invite a few other friends to meet us at Norma G’s for some Caribbean cuisine and drinks. On Thursday night we would attend a R&B concert at Chene Park (The Aretha). Friday is all about relaxation. We would go to Woodhouse or MGM Grand to get a massage (separately), and then meet up with a group of friends for dinner and drinks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shoutout my wife, Shaleena Cole and our children, Dean and Nya. Without their love and support I wouldn’t have the room to walk in my purpose everyday.

To my parents, Jesse and Dianna Cole. Their example of compassion and consistency taught me how to lead with graceful accountability.

I also want to show honor to my mentor and friend, Warren S. Galloway, Jr. His support and guidance has influenced my growth as a business leader, father, and husband.
