We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerrimiah James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerrimiah, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks and failing is something I can live with. When a bird attempts its first flight, it risks falling to the ground, but the desire to soar among the clouds is great. Still, the bird could decide not to risk it and live its life confined to the nest. Risks are the only chances I have at flying. The regret of never attempting to fly feels more painful than hitting the ground. My willingness to take chances has strengthened my wings. I fly more easily now. I feel strongly that eventually, they won’t feel like risks anymore, just freedom.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Jerrimiah James is Atlanta’s premier personal shopper, offering clients an immersive experience inside the modern Styling Suite. The concierge approach to personal shopping assists clients with procuring luxury goods and building relationships with the world’s top brands.

I am an accomplished personal shopper and stylist with more than 15 years of luxury retail experience. I have worked for luxury brands like Bottega Veneta, Tom Ford, Brunello Cucinelli, Christian Dior, and Saks Fifth Ave. My devoted client following, understanding of client needs, and brand partnerships across multiple luxury fashion houses have led to my ongoing success. I have forged relationships as an independent stylist with Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, and Fendi, to name a few. Building my business was no easy task, and leaving the infrastructure and insolation of an employer was not only scary but also required great discipline.

I should mention when I first started my business, Jerrimiah James served as a platform for shared clothing among an exclusive clientele. The greatest lesson I learned in business is to satisfy the need first. The demand was expert shopping paired with unforgettable experiences. I quickly maneuvered and made adjustments accordingly. The lesson being, “Plans should be written in sand, and goals written in stone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My friends love adventure and have an extreme range. I would plan early morning trips to go hiking at SweetWater Creek State Park. There would be lunch at Sun in My Belly, lunch at LOA, and dinner at Kimball House. A couple of days strutting around Beltline hot spots and west midtown bars. I would need a day in midtown to check out SCAD FASH museum, and they would likely want to get back to drinking immediately afterward, so we would walk down to Colony Square, where we would have drinks at Jojo’s Beloved. Late nights would probably feature 8arm, Edgewood, and dancing at MJQ

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is a long list of men and women I owe a Shoutout, and I can not acknowledge one without naming them all. Instead, I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” because every opportunity is worth seizing. While things do not always work out, you are made better for having attempted because nothing lasts forever and opportunities are rarely offered twice.
