We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerrilyn Lake and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerrilyn, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
My father always told me, “Do right because it’s the right thing to do.” A lot of people lack integrity, and I just never wanted to be one of them. Some people will do wrong if they think they can get away with it. I don’t want to be one of those people. My dad taught me that your word means everything, and nobody wants to be associated with anyone they can’t trust or anyone who doesn’t keep their word.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most proud of my musical parodies. I love writing funny songs because they come so easily to me. I genuinely enjoy what I do. I got to the place I am today through hard work and consistency. Gaining followers and monetizing my social media pages hasn’t been an easy journey, but it has been worth it. There were many times where I wanted to quit because I felt like I wasn’t getting the recognition I deserved, but I realized that I’m not doing what I do for recognition and nobody owes me anything. I love sharing my gifts with the world. More than anything, I want people to know that I strive to keep smiles on their faces. I love to entertain and inspire. That’s the most fulfilling thing for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend coming to visit for a week long trip, I would take them back to the airport because I’m an introvert who is socially awkward sometimes! LOL I really love being at home, so perhaps we could order takeout and watch scary movies. I’m not really the “out and about” kind of person. I’ve never been a party girl, so something safe and socially distanced works for me! 🙂 Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate everything to my parents. They are the epitome of parenthood. I’m sure raising me was pretty tough lol, but they never took an off day. My parents have always been there for me any time I needed them. They taught me right from wrong early in life. But they also allowed me to make my own mistakes and to learn from them. They have been loving and supportive every step of the way.
