We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerius Duncan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jerius, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
When you fall land on your back, because if you can look up you can get up. -Les Brown
I live by this, so many times in life I have fallen short. Never have I been in a situation that I couldn’t recover. In life you will fall and get thrown curveballs. The most important factor is to keep the faith and keep on moving. Never allow anyone or anything to slow you down from your dreams/goals.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am currently a legal assistant/title specialist for a law firm in Greenville, South Carolina. My day-to-day workload deals with foreclosure, so definitely not the most exciting job in the world. What keeps me focused on music while also maintaining a full-time job, is the drive and passion I have for singing. I like to keep a strong work, life, and Music balance. At times it can be overwhelming, but my college experience helped me understand how to manage my time amongst different organizations. It definitely was not easy at the start, but it has definitely been worth it.
I would soon love for Music to be my primary income. But I do believe having multiple streams of income is a great way to build wealth.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting from out of town and coming to Atlanta, I would first take them to varsity. After varsity I would take them to the Coca-Cola museum, so we can try all the delicious drinks. I would then take them to see Little five points, which is one of my favorite areas of the city. I’m sure we would be hungry again, so I would take them to Harold’s for some amazing chicken. After our second meal, I would just wanna go riding around the city, and eventually end at the belt line. I would love to walk the belt line and meet and greet new people. We would end our night at Fellaship and hopefully run into Cam!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out my Mother. My mom has been my biggest supporter throughout the early stages of my music career. My mom has encouraged me to go above and beyond, and dream bigger than average. Without my mom and dad’s support I’m not sure if I would have stuck with the music industry. It helps tremendously to have a loving and encouraging support system.
