We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerica Maness and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first thought about starting my own business I was in a situation where I was working and felt my skills where not being used. I would feel doubted or under-minded. I had to tell myself that I could do this. Reminded that this wasn’t my first business I started. My first business was at the age of 21; which was on a much smaller scale but it set the tone to what I know I could do! Overall my drive and goal is to build a legacy, be the “go to therapist” for my clients, and to no longer be doubted or be-little. I let the success speak for itself. God has blessed me with a gift that I plan on giving to as many people as I can.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business mato is “Recover the Pains, notice the Gains.” My goal is to help individuals hit optimal performance and help maintain a pain free lifestyle. I have over 10 years of hands-on experience, and through the years I have found what my true purpose is. My approach to recovery isn’t your typical approach because everyone is different, whether the pain is coming from muscular abnormalities, weakness, inadequate firing patterns, tight muscles, scar tissue or they are just in need of a good body toxin flush; I’m available to give each person individualized therapy. No matter who the client is or what their training volume is; it is essential to spend time recovering. I offer different modalities and hands on therapies that can aid in injury prevention, treatment or muscle strengthening. JM Recovery & Performance says just that; I help clients recover so they can perform.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is full of different things to visit and see. Let’s not forget great places to eat! If your my friend then you appreciate good food! I adore a good lounge, with music and food. Places such as Tribeca, The Breakfast Boys, The Hive, and Posha Lounge. Or get a few tapas at the Garden Room or Barcelona Wine Bar. We would also walk around piedmont park, ponce city market, Avalon or hit Stone Mountain for a workout. There are also festivals, concerts here frequently in Atlanta. We could perhaps see a Braves game. Daytime activities can go from a day at six flags, or the museum, to the aquarium. Overall I just enjoy places that have good food and music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mother Delrita Bridgette has always been the constant motivator in my life. When I told her “I’m thinking about starting my own business” she simply replied “yes! You can do it, you should, you deserve the world.” However my major breakthrough in my career was when a dear client of mine named Kristi Castlin a 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist on the USA track and field team recommended me to someone who was in the film industry; whom opened me to my first film as a on set therapist for Creed 3. I met some other great people along the way who referred me and sealed the deal for my next on set film. The rest is history. I eventually built a team of people I can depend on. This list goes on and I’m blessed to have numerous advocates.
