We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenina Ortega and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenina, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When I hear the word “RISK”, it makes me think really hard of whether it’s a good idea or a bad idea for the risk I’ll take. Risks in my opinion can be a great thing for growth altogether if you’re in a position where you’re taking risks to create your business or gaining more experience with the market for your company on a positive level. Going forward with this, risk can have negative consequences too. You can risk losing your money that you invested into startup, if your business doesn’t flourish. Risk is always a two way street. So, if you’re going to take risks, make sure your educated and experienced in the process and keep your skills at a high standard at all costs because the risk you take can come down and bite you only if you’re not careful and prepared for it. So I say if you’re taking risks properly then you should consider faith and trust in yourself and just keep doing what you do best and keep manifesting your career and life! The road ahead will always be there. Risk that I’ve taken that was the biggest hurdle for me was to get on the road in the first place!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a business owner of “Nina 9 Artist Management LLC”, A professional studio executive at “ Mann Robinson Studios”, I’m also an actress, model and creative artist! I call myself the “Jill of Skills”. I’ve started my business in 2016, for music artists of all ages. I love music and diversity of music so I wanted to create a company that I could help people with building their image and creating their brand! I have the knowledge from my own experiences in the industry from school and I myself was once an artist with a manager when I was 16 years old. I wanted to help others the way my manager helped me and gave encouragement to my abilities! I was in the studio at events and concerts getting ready to build my career. I want the same for my artist career’s. I help find affordable studios to record music and I help them get seen at shows, festivals and events to perform in front of audiences! Everything that’s needed I help get or create! I want the community to be great and grow positively for the future to evolve into something better than what it is today! I’m all about creating changes and building relationships with others. Hoping that what I see in them they see the same light as me! I pick who I want to represent so they have to be talented and willing to commit themselves and once I see that my main focus is to place them in the right places for recognition to possibly get record deals. What sets me apart from others is that I do this for “GOD” and I put my faith into my life to be able to choose my path and for others! I’m excited about my journey and future in the film industry because it’s not often I can be behind the scenes and work instead of being in front of the camera. It’s a new experience that has me so focused and motivated towards growing and learning more about film distribution and major networks where films are placed for viewers to watch. It’s pretty exciting and easy if you’re motivated and able to take some risks. I overcame the challenges I had and I just pray for the strength and knowledge to get my job done. The lessons that I’ve learned from is don’t hang around with the wrong crowds and keep your mind off of the negative things that hinder your ability to be successful! I came a long way from the street life of hustling, clubs, jails, and very dark days in my life. I did a 360 turn around and I’m very proud of myself and I know my Grandma would be proud too! She is the reason why I’m in school now to get a diploma in Expanded Functions Dental Assisting just to have a little extra to fall back on if anything changes or happens I can be completely flexible and content with my skills in the healthcare of dentistry!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friends was visiting for a week long and I wanted to take them out to eat, drink, visit, hang out I would take them first to eat at my favorite “Cirque Daiquiri Bar and Grill” in Atlanta. The food is amazing and the drinks are great! I’m from the South side, so I like to hang out on the South. Places in Old National called “Jamerican Bar and Grill “ very laid back spot. I also would hit up “Escobar South” in Clayton County. I sometimes host there so it’s pretty much great vibes when I’m in the building. When I’m feeling like shaking my tail feathers I like to go to a spot I call the “Hood Spot” off Cleveland Avenue “Lacura”. After I take them to those spots I would want to introduce them to my old hustle grounds at club “Rumors” in Forest Park. It’s a strip club and they sell delicious food there as well. I mostly like to go to different events in the city, if there is one that weekend I would take them with me to network with filmmakers and other creatives. I love to go to the spa at “Jeju”. I love the park it doesn’t matter which one I like to walk but I do prefer the parks that have lakes or waterfalls in them! Everyday we definitely would have something to do for a week long! I’ll take my best friends to a movie in the area and I would go downtown to ride around on the horse cart and then go to the ferris wheel to overlook the city! Overall, there would never be a dull day when they visit me in my city! I’m very adventurous and very friendly with people I love to visit and connect with all types of businesses that I enjoy visiting!
