We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeannie Ferguson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeannie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my brand/success is to remain humble and work as if you haven’t accomplished anything. I think sometimes we can become very comfortable and complacent. When you grind like you have nothing you work harder and accomplish more. I always say keep the hunger.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was thrown into being a model by sister. She was designing plus size clothing and she needed a model my size to show off the garment. I got to where I am today with tough skin, Hard work and dedication. Not letting anyone tell me what I could and could not do as a Petite Plus Woman. I over came those obstacles by showing up and showing out. I knew that there had to be more to me than just a pretty face. I let my Walk speak for itself. I learned that the smallest things can break your spirit and make you give up on yourself if you don’t believe in yourself. I want the world to know that I have a passion for modeling and teaching aspiring models. I do this because I love it not just for the money

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend on a different excursion every day. MON- We’ll go Axe throwing, then go to my favorite Indian spot. TUE – We’ll go have Sushi in Williamsburg then walk around chat a bit then hit the ice cream shop Van Leeuwen. WED – We’ll go to the Rage Cage and break up some stuff. Then we’ll hit up the burger spot Paul’s Da Burger Joint. Then go to a Pub of her choice cuz I don’t drink. THUR – We’ll go to a Museum in the city then go to Philip Marie for a Savory Dinner. FRI – We’ll go to the Theater District and see a Off Broadway Play. Then Hit up the Bars for some finger foods and good music. SAT- We’ll go shopping, Hit Up The Boil for seafood. Go home get dressed then go to the BLUE NOTE in the Village to hear some great Jazz music. Then go to a cute lounge yo mix and mingle. SUN: Cook a Great big Dinner of her choice.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my sister, Tasha Hill. If it wasn’t for her and I arguing about me being on stage, I would have never become the model I am today.
