We had the good fortune of connecting with Jean Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jean, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’m a giver and a helper by nature. As a nurse and Certified Health Coach, I have a passion for everything related to health, healing and wholeness and want to see others live their life healthy, healed and whole body, mind and spirit.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a 33-year career nurse and a Certified Health Coach. I served as a nurse in the Army for the past 25 of those 33 years both here in the U.S. and abroad, to include a tour in Iraqi and South Korea. In 2005, I had the opportunity to serve the people of New Orleans post Hurricane Katrina. I believe my faith in God is what has kept me and afforded me the success I’ve experienced in my life. In July 2018, I was diagnosed with a malignant tumor, got it removed and went through nine months of the most grueling chemotherapy treatment that caused congestive heart failure and put me in cardiac arrest! The road back from that (i.e. in-patient rehabilitation and cardiac rehabilitation) wasn’t easy but I believe the warrior spirit (the fighter) in me developed from years as an Army Soldier was very instrumental in my recovery. With that said, I had to terminate my former business because the chemotherapy treatments drained me of my energy and I didn’t have anyone who could continue to grow it. Now, as I work to rebrand and rebuild, I have a different perspective on life. That whole experience has helped me to see the glass half full and to grow through whatever I go through.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always enjoy hanging out at/around Centennial Park, hiking around Stone Mountain and watching the laser light show. I would definitely take them.to Marietta Fish Market and Pappadoux’s Sunday Buffet My other favorite restaurant is Herban Fix Vegan Restaurant I still haven’t eaten at The Slutty Vegan so that’s definitely a trip we’d have to make!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all, I give thanks to the Almighty God! Secondly, I’m so grateful that God has blessed me with the most awesome husband in the world, James Turner! Thank you babe for never giving up on me!
