We had the good fortune of connecting with JAYY23RD and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi JAYY23RD, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve had to make was quitting my job with no other source of steady income to follow my dreams of becoming a producer. I am a firm believer of the statement “being stuck at a job” or essentially “living pay check to pay check” which is what I felt like I was doing. As you may know with any entrepreneurial job or self employment, it’s difficult to get it off the ground running without adequate funding while still being able to maintain bills and work a dead end 9-5 job. I felt like I was wasting a lot of potential , time, and missing out on a lot of opportunities because of my 9-5.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my deep understanding and great ear for music. Due to my studies I can tap into different frequencies and vibrations by understanding how they affect the human brain. Using this, I am able to come up with unique productions and blend different sounds that people don’t usually use.

I started off interning at Generation Now studio in Atlanta, GA. While there, I studied, watched and learned from industry professionals and used what I learned to help my own profession, I also, used my internship to network and branch off and make connections with other people in my profession. This up many doors many doors and opportunities for me such as being invited to LA to participate in a writing camp as well as having the opportunity to work with various big artists including but not limited to Symba, Pressa, Smiley, Jeremih and many more.

No it wasn’t easy at all, starting out I was trying my hardest to avoid failure to get to where I need to be but I then realized that you have to go through failure to get to where you want to be . The faster you fail the faster you learn. I over came the challenges by staying to to what music means to me. There was a lot of times o had to do free work but doing so opened slot of doors and connections to paid opportunities . The most valuable lesson I learned along the way was to stay consistent even when you don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. There have been times where I wanted to give up and go back to the drawing board but I had it set in my head that I am going to give it my all and be consistent and if it doesn’t work out than at least I have confidence in knowing I did my very best .

What I want people to know about my brand and story is “you are in control”. your dreams, legacy, and everything you want it to be is in reach. control your legacy. Keep going never quit and be consistent , that’s what’s Global Masterminds represents .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was to visit I would definitely take them to a lot of Georgia’s National Parks. I enjoyed visiting Amicalola Falls, Tallulah Gorge, Providence Canyon State Park and more. I enjoy getting up in the mountains to clear my head and get re-inspired. Some of my other spots I like to take people when the visit is the High Museum of Art, skating at Cascade, going to Skyline Park and Piedmont Park. For a evening thing I enjoy Slingshot or Puttshack. As for food, I enjoy Grindhouse burger, Bruster’s Ice Cream, Marcos Pizza. Then honestly I just cook most of the time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Where do I start ? There are lots of friends, family etc that has played a huge role in shaping me into who I am today . I guess I’ll start first with my grandfather and mother. . I grew up without my father and my grandfather surly stepped up to the plate . From financial supporting me and my mother to emotionally supporting to showing me what it is to be a man, my grandfather has played an exceptional role in helping me grow up to be the man I am today. Growing up in poverty is hard on lots of parents across the globe but that didn’t stop my grandfather and mother from giving me the love and support that any kid with a dream could ever ask for. I want to next shout out my assistant Cydney McCall-Francois and my best friend Vickisha Morency. I believe everyone needs a strong support system to achieve their goals and these two outstanding ladies fall nothing short as the best support system anyone could ask for. Days that I have doubts or feel like I don’t know what my next moves are these two are quick to get me back on track and to get my mind focused. From daily motivation calls to even helping me gain connections I wouldn’t have gotten on my own, I can honestly say that these two truly believe in me and have been very much a great addition and help to my success
