We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaysie DeWolf and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaysie, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The number one most important thing my business has taught me is how to be confident. There’s nobody there to tell you what to do, when. or how to do it. In theory it sounds easy, but in reality it takes a lot of mistakes to figure out a good routine. A lot of people along the way will make you question why they should choose you when there are others out there. I have had to believe in myself and my ability to not only run the backend of my business, but also knowing my worth and when it’s okay to say no.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Every dog is different and deserves individualized care. Careful attention to daily routines, especially during overnight sittings. I am so proud to go the extra mile for any fur baby to make them the happiest they can be! I have lots of experience with anxious pups. The times I love my job the most is when an anxious dog breaks out of their shell and opens up to me. I have zero breed restrictions, and care for pets as small as 6lbs and as large as 180lbs! I am constantly looking for ways to better myself for my business, but also to contribute to the community as well. Almost immediately after opening Boopers, I started volunteering by walking dogs that need walks when their foster parents are away. Getting to where I am was not easy. There was a lot of self doubt along the way and truly wondering if this could be sustainable. The best way to gain new clients in this industry is word of mouth. I joined all the neighborhood Facebook groups and made sure I was active on NextDoor. Not only answering the call to people looking for pet care, but being involved in other posts about our community.

If people were to only know one thing about me, it would be that I pour my heart and soul into my business. Your pets are my pets, and I will love them as you would while they are with me. The best way to gain new clients in this industry is word of mouth. Ensuring each client is satisfied so they can pass on my information to the next person!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love East Atlanta Village. That’s always one of the first places I bring anyone. It’s very popular for its night life, but there’s also killer food choices and many cute pop up events. For breakfast foods, obviously Waffle House is a must. When my mom was in town I also made sure we made it to Homegrown. As far as other meals go, We Suki Suki, Gaja, Argosy, The Wing Bar and Grant Central Pizza are all outstanding options in EAV. The city of Decatur is also a great spot to bring friends. Raging Burrito has a near and dear place in my heart. And the MARTA station is located there, so you can easily access downtown Atlanta. Other restaurants that deserve mentioning; Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks, Antico, Sleepy Potato, and Pho Cue. Food is always top priority when visiting new places or having friends or family visit me, if you can’t tell. Some suggestions I would make for things to do would be walking the BeltLine, the Georgia Aquarium, shopping Little 5 Points, any music events, various trails, or hanging out in one of the many beautiful parks around the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Alex. Through every question, self doubt, and struggle to keep going he has continued to do anything he can to make sure I can be successful.
