Meet Jaylon Deion | Fashion Designer & Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaylon Deion and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaylon, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand (Jaylon Deion) is giving glory and honor to Jesus Christ for placing these talents in my life. Everything I do/create I could never do without God leading and guiding me through the creative process.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In my brand Jaylon Deion, I make everything myself and I like to explore and experiment with fashion any chance I get. I love using different fabrics, materials, etc. to make incredible garments. I’m very proud of my recent collection, “Jaylon Deion Denim,” this collection came from using various denim jeans and patchwork patterns to make shirts, skirts, hats, vests, etc. Everything jean used and nothing gone to waste. Learning fashion design wasn’t easy, I am a self taught designer and I learned my craft from watching various videos on YouTube. As a visual learner it was very easy to pick up on all the tips and tricks in fashion design as well as some pointers from friends and family. I overcome ever obstacle I come across in my creative journey by understanding and choosing the path that’s gonna make God and myself proud. I don’t want to live a life of regret when it comes to my dreams, but rather chase everything I know I have access to and everything God has planned for me. I want the world to know that it is so important to use your talents and gifts to make not just you proud, but everyone around you as well. It is important to chase those dreams in the back of your mind that you constantly pray happen, because Jesus said ” If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friends to some cool spots like, Krog st. Piedmont Park, Aisle 5, anywhere with good scenery honestly. Some good food spots I’ve tried are: E Ramen +, Starfish sushi, and chipotle is always a good choice.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be walking as a Fashion Designer & Model if I didn’t have God by my side. God has always helped me through everything man could not fix and he teaches me things in my art every day. My family and friends are so supported of everything I do and encourage me to do more and more. Their words help me to learn, create, fix, take risks, etc. I’m also very inspired from my family & friends with their creative talents, and my brother Coup inspired me to get into fashion and exploring design.
