We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Wynne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is a very important aspect and driving factor in most creative careers. We face risk in our everyday lives, and our decisions help cultivate the confidence we gain towards risk. I think the response towards risk, whether in life or in a career, is linked directly towards ones confidence in themselves and handling the situation. I also believe that your support group, community, friends, and family you surround yourself with has a large effect on how anyone handles risk and taking chances, especially when it comes to work and career. I view risk as an essential catalyst for growth and innovation. By stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing uncertainty, I’ve been able to pursue unique opportunities and experiences, that, enriched my personal resilience and adaptability. While challenging and not without its hardships embracing these elements has been incredibly rewarding, shaping my career into a dynamic and fulfilling journey that is ever-changing and growing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business, Project IRWIN LLC, was formed a few years ago in Atlanta, GA. We are a small business that was formed out of friendship and mutual desire to have our own sincere voice. With over 17 years of experience in an ever-changing, growing, and fast-paced industry of film, art, and entertainment we found it very important to approach our work in the simplest most sincere way possible. Nothing flashy, no added fluff or expensive overhead, just our effort to deliver the best quality we can offer. I feel this really helped us especially during the COVID pandemic. When a lot of other local studios and businesses were shutting their doors and having to figure out ways to transition their work, we were able to keep working through and delivering the same quality of work without many roadblocks. Keeping things honest and streamlined with our clients (many of whom are friends), we can offer them the same level of work you might find at a much larger, more expensive, facility. We pride ourselves in being able to offer this to many clients who may not be able to afford larger businesses or higher quality of work. This, I feel, truly opens the door for creative collaboration and respect for one another in this industry that I feel can get lost, in the structure and hierarchy of larger companies. Our company motto is ‘Having fun, Making fun’ and if there is ever a client or project that we feel isn’t allowing us to do that together, then we move on to the next one and always use it as a learning experience. Constantly refining and trying to improve while maintaining those core values.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is alot to be said about Atlantas growing ‘awe’ factor and that is one of the many things that I love about this city. I am originally from New England and spending most of my adult/professional life in Georgia has fostered a great appreciation for the diversity in so many areas, such as the food, music, environment and weather. I am fortunate to live right off of the famous Buford Highway area, so DAY 01 would definitely include lunch and dinner pretty much anywhere along Bu-Hi as it is home to some of the best food and culture Atlanta has to offer. DAY 02 would definitely involve a bit of the ‘wow’ factor of activities like the Atlanta Belt line, Ponce City Market, and Piedmont park. DAY 03 may involve some more outdoor activities like hiking or day trip to north georgia mountains or to one of the many large lakes (depending on the time of year) to paddle board or swim. When my brother came to visit for the first time we went to Helen, GA and spent a night camping at Tallulah Falls Gorge. The rest of the days and time spent would definitely be focused on some of the night life in the many different Neighborhoods of atlanta (which is also very unique). The West side has completely transformed into fun night life spot as well as The Underground Atlanta, for a concert/show. Of course no trip would be complete without going to the Aquarium and the Nation Center for Civil and Human Rights museum, which highlights the cultural uniqueness of Atlanta along with High Museum on Art. Also Plaza Fiesta on Buford Highway, that needs to be on the list somewhere! It would be a pretty busy week needless to say.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Jacqueline Walsh, has been a partner of mine for over 15 years, and a huge supporter and champion of my confidence and ability to take chances and build connections and friendships in our community. She is a Service Design Director at Accenture/Fjord Agency and is a big source of encouragement and inspiration.
