We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Marsh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Joining a large community centered around what I love to do. A community that included beginners and experts.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of having the awareness to recognize and follow the path that led to my success. I recognized it because of how excited I was, I couldn’t ignore it, and it started as a hobby. I overcame the challenges because I just had to keep exploring, solving problems, and playing with the tools. Along with joining a large community of artists, in the same field, that’s how I got to where I am today, The journey was so much fun that I knocked down the blocks and challenges when they popped up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Gibbs Gardens, Stone Mountain, Callaway Gardens, Booth Museum of Western Art, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and Fernbank Museum

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Rosemary Winn, my high school art teacher.
