Meet Javisha Lasheaa | CEO and Founder of Winning SZN

We had the good fortune of connecting with Javisha Lasheaa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Javisha, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Consistency. From my experience, consistency has been the single most important factor to ensuring success of any brand. Consistency creates accountability. Companies need to have accountability in order to create a good reputation and brand presence. In the fashion world you cannot just release two collections and then take 2 years off. In order to remain relevant in the fashion industry, you have to continue creating and release new collections that are up to date. And yes, you will have many obstacles when trying to achieve your goals, but the success of any brand depends on consistency, even when you are faced with failure. You MUST remain consistent because you don’t know if that next week/month or year will be “THE YEAR”. The majority of “successful” individuals have probably failed more times than the next person has attempted, and that is what separates the ones who “make it” from the ones who don’t. Consistency is key.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The clothing line WINNING SZN (SEASON). is a motivational brand inspired by a gospel song called “You Will Win” By Jacquelin Carr. This eight minute song fueled my energy, shifting it to POSITIVE after going through depression in a rough period of my life. I wanted to give up on everything and throw in the towel. After listening to “You Will Win” over and over, it gave me the motivation to continue to move forward regardless of what my circumstances were. I have always had a love for fashion, so I thought to myself why not help others who also go through difficult times to motivate them through fashion. Lo and Behold, that day, WINNING SZN was born.
By telling my story. I effectively humanize my brand and it was therapeutic to communicate what I was going through, so I’m excited that I am able to help others make it out of a storm by capturing their attention with fashion. A few months after releasing my clothing line, someone told me that when they put on a Winning SZN shirt it makes them want to accomplish all their goals. That day, I just knew that I was on the right path to changing lives.
I put every dollar I made into my business. It’s like having a child. When you’re the mother of a child you give up everything for yourself so you can give your child the best of everything, that’s how I feel about having a business. I remember days of being broke and spending my last dime on inventory. It takes a lot of sacrificing, you sacrifice your time, your money, relationships, stability and comfort. I tell everyone don’t think of these sacrifices as literal sacrifices. You’ll be giving something up, sure, but try to think of it as a type of investment. You’re giving up intangible luxuries in exchange for something better down the road. You’re paying for the opportunity to find success in your own enterprise, and your sacrifices will be rewarded many times over so long as you stay committed in your chosen path.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was to visit the city for the weekend and I wanted to show her the best time ever I would probably take her to Uptown Comedy Corner on Friday night to enjoy some laughs because we are both very silly. They also have the BEST lemon pepper wings in the city so we would go there to get a few drinks and fight over the wings. On Saturday, I would probably take her to smoke hookah at Privilege Lounge located in the city of Riveradale where we were both raised. It would bring back memories of us growing up and give us an opportunity to talk about our high school days. On Sunday, I would probably take her shopping at Lenox mall and get a smoothie from Tassili’s Raw Reality. I’d be sure to stop by BK Brasco clothing boutique called Band of Brothers that’s not too far from Lenox mall. My clothing is sold there and she has never been before so it would be a great opportunity to stop by.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shout out goes to my parents and grandparents. They set a great foundation for me and my siblings. I want to thank them for teaching me that it’s okay to be myself. Even with all of my flaws and quirks, y’all taught me to be true to myself. I’m still working on fully grasping this concept, but I’ll get there someday. Thank you for raising me to be a strong, independent person. Y’all truly have no idea how much you mean to me.
