Meet Javaris Askin | Men’s Fashion & Lifestyle Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Javaris Askin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Javaris, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand has been understanding my why. As an upcoming Fashion and Lifestyle Creator, I have a passion for inspiring guys to feel and look their best. Understanding why I started in the first place allows me to stay focused, motivated, and consistent when the feelings of doubt and discouragement enter my body. People sometimes misinterpret the idea that if you are passionate about something, it doesn’t feel like work. I’m sure I can speak for many creators when I say that growing and building a platform on social media is far from easy and definitely requires hard work, discipline, and consistency. Although I love what I do, this can become time consuming and even exhausting, especially while being a full-time graduate student, but because I remember my why, I have not only the motivation to continue, but I have the hunger and desire to be great and better than I was the previous day. Most good things in life do not come easy which requires us to be in a process or a journey towards a particular goal. This process can be different for us all, but regardless, it will be challenging. I am never one to tell others what they are not able to achieve however I will say, if you are not 110% sure of your why, it will be a long and difficult journey towards your end-goal. Without my why, I am almost certain I would have given up a long time ago, and I thank God that he instilled that why within me because I’m just getting started and have so many more lives to positively impact.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a creator and make content on both YouTube and Instagram platforms. Specially on YouTube, I create videos on topics including but not limited to, clothing hauls, sneaker reviews, men’s fashion advice, and even occasional vlogs. I enjoy sharing this content with my audience in hopes of giving them new places to shop for clothes and sneakers, while also providing creative styling ideas. On Instagram, I mainly focus on providing “easy to recreate” outfit inspiration for guys while sometimes uploading morning routine reels and other lifestyle content. I believe one thing that sets me apart from others, is my unique style and range in fashion. Many fashion creators like to stick to one particular style, but I enjoy switching it up every now and then. Although I mainly focus on streetwear and occasionally more classy/dapper wear, I do try to push myself to try out new fashion styles. I believe I have more learning and developing to do as a creator, however I know what has gotten me where I am so far is my consistency. It is a struggle sometimes to upload content during busier weeks, where I have other priorities however I make it a point to push through and stay consistent because I know my end-goal.
I, simply would like the world to know that I am an upcoming creator who will always put passion over profit. Even at my small following, I have turned down brand collaborations in the past because they simply did not fit my brand nor what I wanted to represent. I will strive to be a genuine creator who will speak truly and honestly about whatever brands or products I am representing because I genuinely want to help guys and inspire them to be the best version of themselves through the 3 P’s (Polished, Positivity, and Productivity). If you look your best (Polished), you will feel your best (Positive), and thus do you best (Productive).

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As an Atlanta native, it is in our culture to start the morning with a breakfast or brunch. The first place, I’d take them is to BQE Restaurant & Lounge. It is nice place with great food and vibes. Later I’d go to Atlantic Station firstly because it’s one of the few places in Atlanta with plenty of parking space, but also because there is more than enough activities to do there. You can eat, shop, drink, or even just walk around and take pictures. To end the night, I go to any bar or lounge spot for a few drinks and fun vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d firstly like to thank my friends and family. They were my first supporters when it came to growing my platform on both Instagram and YouTube. They encouraged me and were my first few subscribers, which seems smalls, but surprisingly had a huge impact on me continuing this journey in becoming a content creator. Also, I would just like to thank all the men who began this Men’s fashion and Lifestyle journey before me. Some of these men were trailblazers for male “influencing” and fashion content on social media and they allowed me to have individuals to look up to and see that it was indeed possible for me.
