We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
There are multiple reasons I chose to start my creative career. let’s start with the basic reason that everyone has said once in their life, “I simply was tired of working for other people” and only making enough to pay my bills. On top of that, I would come home exhausted too drained to create. So I changed the narrative kicked the 9-5 to the curb, and boom Self-employed artist. I pursued my creative career because It gave me a reason. Whenever I was going through a hard time I would create a new piece. The majority of my early pieces came from heartbreak and going through family issues. I would lock myself in my room and paint. It’s a healthy coping mechanism I graciously acquired. I’m just amazed at how many people I have been able to touch with my craft, forever grateful.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The greatest struggle for me would have to be constantly grinding and creating. Thinking will everyone like this, will everyone like that. When truthfully, it’s about what you want to create, what you’re going through, and how you can interpret it to reach multiple people in different ways.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As soon as my best friend touches down we are going to Fin & Feathers Atlanta for brunch. Our entrees are going to consist of Chicken and waffles, Catfish and Grits with their signature jalapeno sauce. For drinks bottomless mimosas for the win. Enjoy ourselves with a little hookah. Afterwards, we’re going to the Georgia Aquarium, personally I fell in love with the Dolphin show and the amazing glass bridge where you’re able to see the sharks literally swim over you. Your dealing with a Pisces placement here so, water and me are bestfriends. By this time I would take her to one of my favorite bistreaux’s. The Louisiana Bistreaux. Kicking it off with drinks just the classics, a Long Island or a Lemon Drop. For the appetizer we would get the Gator Bites, and for the entree the Crawtator Grouper. We are in Atlanta, so that means we have to end the night at the club. So of course were going to finish the night at one of the hottest caribbean lounges Paradise Lounge in Sandy Springs. This is the itinerary me and my bestfriend would follow. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My father has always pushed me to showcase my work. Everyday I am thankful for that, without him my talent would have stayed in the closet. I want to give a shoutout to my team at Kareemba Studios in Lawrenceville, GA for always pushing me to create when I wanted to give up and challenging me as well . Check us out kareembastudios.com.
