We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine White (@Besdress_) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve been creative and artistic before really understanding what it was. I just knew I was always different. When I started to really understand how talented I was it was in high school my freshman year when I began taking Fashion Design classes. I started to realize that the gift I possessed could actually be a career. So I started creating pieces that I knew no one in my school was wearing. It felt good and it made me happy so I knew it was a purpose of mine.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a Fashion Stylist is more than just nice clothes! It’s about creating a safe space for some who may not think that they are worthy of looking and feeling amazing about themselves. Anytime I style a client for an occasion or event I want to build confidence in them! So many people are self conscious about things that you wouldn’t even know. I help push them out of their comfort zones, I elevate the style that they already possess, I make sure they are the prize and that all eyes are on them when they walk into a room. I also use my social media platforms to help others shop I share my fashion pieces to my audience. They love to be able to see how I put things together so I provide the links so they can enjoy the affordable prices and stylish pieces.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would go to eat for sure! We have so many good food places in the Richmond Area. Soul Food would probably be the choice. We would go to Southern Kitchen maybe a museum Virginia Museum of Fine Arts! Check out some art, Do some shopping at Short Pump Mall, Skating or bowling, if any music festivals or concerts is happening would definitely check them out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother and my grandmother! They are the reason that I have such stylish taste and the love for making sure I feel and look good every time I walk out the door. Rest in heaven Grandma Patricia Ann Taylor! I love you and I thank you for all the lessons, the talks, the encouragement and the love!
