We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“If it is to be, it will be me” is one of my favorite quotes by Gary Keller. This is how I gauge and assess risk. Every aspect of our being requires risk. On a small scale, which grocery store should I shop at due to food recalls? On a larger scale, will the investment in solar panels make your home more energy sufficient? It is safe to say, I assess risk but I do not linger on it. Risk can secretly create fear and scare you away from your goals.
I made the transition into Real Estate during a nationwide pandemic with nothing leading me but pure ambition. Being a REALTOR® is a risk. The market is ever-changing and we do not have any control over it. We adapt and find innovative ways to make our business blossom and stand out from the competition. It is safe to say Real Estate is a risk, but a very rewarding one. From a career and investment standpoint, Real Estate has so many rewarding pathways that it is worth the potential liability. That is the point that I always try to drive home with my clients.
Homeownership is a beautiful gold nugget that can change your life and the lives of generations to come. Having a gem of this magnitude is so rare in African American communities, and that is why I am here today. I remember sitting in Real Estate school and wondering, do people in my sphere know that these possibilities are available? That is when it clicked. My purpose was formed and risk was nowhere in sight.
My risk outlook is what I feel sets me apart, and that is cherished deeply by my clients. I can keep up with innovative paths to homeownership. I actively strive to ensure that I educate all of my clients and encourage them to spread the knowledge to their sphere of influence. People don’t not own homes because they do not want to. They don’t own homes because they don’t think that they can. I show them otherwise and make the once impossible thought of owning a home possible. I also get the opportunity to provide financial literacy along the way. Taking the necessary risks in my personal life and career makes this achievement possible for others. JK Moves GA has opened doors and created foundations for many families and many more in the future!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of JK Moves GA partnered with eXp Realty. I am a REALTOR® for Metro Atlanta and surrounding areas. What sets my business apart from other agents is my relationship with my clients. I am very transparent and our relationship transitions from strictly business to family. My clients become long-term friends who trust me with their financial inquiries before, during, and after the transaction. It was not easy to get to this phase, but I asked myself at the beginning of my journey “What kind of agent do you want to be?” The answer was a relatable one. My clients relate to me on a personal level. I am a consumer myself, so I give perspective as your advisor and as a home buyer in a similar market. I have learned when you come across “sales like” and unrelatable, people find it hard to connect with you. In this industry, getting a client in a home can happen in as little as 30 days to a few months. Having a good bond and rapport makes the journey less stressful and enjoyable. I have had the pleasure of assisting first-time homebuyers for majority of my career and aspire to aid many more! There are so many programs that are untapped potential for homeownership!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A couple of my favorite brunch spots include: Milk and Honey (The honey biscuits..OMG), Red Pepper Taqueria (Chorizo queso & Mango margarita is a must!), and The Beverly (Typically a live band on Sundays)
My favorite lunch spots include: Tin Lizzys, PunchBowl Social, Big Daves Cheesesteaks, and The Crab Boil ATL are MUST lunch spots. All provide their own specialties from the pastas to the drinks. Good vibes and good food!
And for dinner HAVE TO visit: STK Steakhouse, Stoney River, and Bar Vegan.
A couple of other have-to-visit spots are SKYLINE Park, The Culture Experience, The Beltline, and Atlantic Station.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give credit to my support circle. This group is comprised of friends that have become family during this new journey. There have been a lot of late nights, exhausting days, and times when I have needed a listing ear. My team kept me balanced and encouraged my dreams. For that, I am forever grateful. Having the right people and energy surrounding you when you are in a period of growth is very important.
