We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Let’s first address that success looks differently for everyone. Habits must be created around what is realistic while also being patient on the journey. For me, I initially wrote out what success was for me and the steps needed to achieve that. I set alarms on my phone to keep me on track. Most importantly, I never stopped learning and I don’t intend to ever stop learning. I read many books, take relatable courses and always challenge myself with new ways of doing things. One habit I believe everyone should have no matter what success looks like for them is to always check in with themselves. Does this success feel good to you? “Success is not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success” -Albert Schweitzer
What should our readers know about your business?
I started my Accounting business 12 years ago while working a full time job and attending Georgia State University for my Accounting degree. With extensive H&R Block tax training, I decided to offer tax preparation as my first service in 2009. Four years later with my Accounting degree and a ton of hands on experience I decided to quit my good paying job at a CPA Firm to pursue my practice 100%! I knew it was time when my boss barely came in anymore and I was pretty much doing all the work.
Now, in 2021, I am the proud owner of Square 1 Accounting where you are squared away from the start. My accounting practice mostly manages the finances for actors and entertainers in places like FL, GA and even California. I also offer Financial Coaching to assist individuals create a financial plan for themselves and their family based on their specific goals-values-beliefs. My heart melts and I am so grateful when I get emails from past clients telling me how much their session has helped them. It’s truly an amazing feeling. The information is out there for all, but I provide an environment/energy for mindset shifts that help my clients stay the course for their success long after we have ended our session.
My second business that I officially started in January 2020 is Live Happi Girl. It’s a platform I created to inspire women to live happy and intentionally. On the website you will find many blogs and our store. A portion of the proceeds are donated to Mental Health non profits while the remainder is used for expenses when I volunteer with youth. So many of us struggle from things in the past, we continue habits that don’t move us forward and we lose who we are meant to be. In return we aren’t happy and don’t live according to how we desire. This all ties back into how we treat ourselves, others and our money. We must take care of our mental state to be able to make positive shifts within ourselves to live the life we all deserve.
None of this was easy and most of the time I was afraid to make the leap. I do not like to fail, but I did it anyway and sometimes failed. The thing is, I got back to it and analyzed why it failed and tried again. In the midst of growing my business, I gave birth to a baby girl 2 years later and another baby in 2019. There were many mornings I had to get up even though I was sleep deprived with a new child. When you are passionate about something & can’t stop thinking about your idea, it’s time to write it out and make plans to go after it. You will reach the people you were destined to reach! There will be life changes, I had to find a way to make it work.
We all grow from challenges and “fails”. Just as my favorite artist Jhene Aiko says ” You have got to trust the signs, everything will turn out fine.”
My brand is about addressing the goals, mindset and what’s holding someone back from their dreams. Then, we create a plan of habits and life changing steps to propel forward with their Mindset and Money!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to eat and my friends do to. Here we go:
Breakfast at Another Broken Egg in Vinings
Massages at The Art of Touch in Atlanta
or Full Day at Jeju in Gwinnett
Night drinks at the house
We like to keep things low key with space to relax and chat about life amongst other things.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Whew! So many! My husband for always supporting my big moves. My mom teaching me and showing me how to go for it even if you don’t see it right then. My many friends for supporting my businesses, being there for my ups and downs and mini breakdowns. My clients who turned into friends with their positive energy and support. Then the many angels and mentors from my youth to now. Some I am still in touch with and some came for a season.
