We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Coleman-Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After Ours started as a project management business. I helped small businesses set up their processes and frameworks to be successful. As creatives, we always know the hardest part of starting a business was getting organized and getting your processes written out. I wanted to take that frustration away and show businesses that organization didn’t hinder their creativity, it enhanced it.

What should our readers know about your business?
After Ours is not just a business; it’s a passion project born from a desire to uplift and empower artists, particularly those from underrepresented communities. As a Black-woman-owned and operated agency, we understand the unique challenges faced by artists of color and the importance of providing them with the support and resources they need to thrive.

What sets us apart is our personalized approach and unwavering commitment to our clients’ success. We don’t just offer services; we become partners in our clients’ artistic journeys, working alongside them every step of the way to help them realize their visions and achieve their goals. Our boutique size allows us to provide the kind of individualized attention and support that larger agencies simply can’t match.

One thing I’m particularly proud of is our ability to help our clients not only develop their artistry but also build sustainable, successful brands that make a real impact on culture and communities. Seeing our clients grow and succeed is incredibly rewarding and fuels our passion for what we do.

Of course, building a business in a competitive industry hasn’t been easy. We’ve faced challenges along the way, from navigating the complexities of the industry to overcoming biases and stereotypes. But each challenge has only made us stronger and more determined to succeed.

One of the most important lessons we’ve learned is the power of resilience and perseverance. No matter how tough things get, we never lose sight of our mission and our belief in the transformative power of art. We’ve also learned the importance of staying true to our values and creating a supportive and inclusive environment for both our clients and our team.

Ultimately, we want the world to know that After Ours is more than just an agency; we’re a community dedicated to empowering artists and helping them realize their full potential. Our story is one of passion, perseverance, and the belief that with the right support and resources, anything is possible. We’re here to help artists go after theirs, and we’re just getting started.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shoutout the 3 other women who came together to help create After Ours what it is today. I also have to shoutout my right-hand and COO Tatiyana Blood. She gives me motivation to keep going. Her work ethic and success has been amazing to watch. I am in awe everyday
