We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarrod Finley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jarrod, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
To me success can be defined in a few ways. Success can be the impact that you leave on the generation coming up after you and how you made your respective career, better for their future to giving yourself the life you couldn’t necessarily have when you were growing up because you couldn’t afford certain things. It could also be how you are genuinely rewarded through out your life/career for the work you put into it. Lastly, it could simply be, being better than I was the day, week or month before. All of those options are what I aim to do in my life and personally define as success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe one thing that sets me apart is, I often like to go the extra mile in entertaining the crowds and being vocal. The fans are a huge part of the show and if they like you, love you or hate you in the ring, they’ll let you know and I like to let them know right back how I appreciate the love or give them a piece of my mind haha.
No it wasn’t easy to get to this point in my career, a lot of sleepless nights wondering if I’m good enough to be where I’m at. Hard lessons learned in the ring about taking care of myself and being patient with my success and realizing that it won’t happen overnight and anything worth keeping, my wrestling career, will take time to develop.
I want the world to know that I’m one of the people that genuinely care about this sport, want to help make this sport better and anytime I’m in the middle of a ring that they’ve taken their time out to see. I’m going to give 110% and put on an enjoyable performance.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think the Georgia Aquarium or Atlanta Botanical Garden are nice places to go, they both have a lot of beautiful scenery to a friend new in town. There is a giant ferris wheel that is in downtown Atlanta that has a beautiful view of the city skyline, more so towards the evening when everything is lit up and the sky is nice and clear. There are also quite a few museums in the city, consisting of art museums, civil rights museums and several others.
As far as food, there’s a good barbecue place called “Community Barbecue” in Decatur. Hudson Grille and BTJ’s are nice places to go to, both in the city and have a great selection of wings which Atlanta is famous for. I’d put Hudson Grille in the same category of somewhere nice to hang out as they have a nice open outside eating area. In addition, there’s a number of great parks all around including Centennial Olympic park which was apart of the 1996 Olympics held here in Atlanta and the water fountain of rings are nice to use to cool off on a long hot summer day if you’re in the area.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well first, I wouldn’t be where I am in life without God giving me this wrestling career and family/friends for keeping me motivated. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without those prominent factors in my life. I have to thank my trainer AR Fox and the WWA4 family. We all have the same hunger and desire to do great things in the wrestling and motivate each other to be the best versions of our selves.
