We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarrett Kirby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jarrett, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I knew as I was preparing to graduate college that if I couldn’t find a job in events, and still being a huge part of my community, I would never be fully happy. I had to find time to build something on the side and still get the event planning I’d been doing that entire time, out into the world. I pulled the trigger in April of 2017 and haven’t looked back since.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I consider us a true anomaly in today’s events environment – we take a little bit of all aspects of car culture, and we throw it together to create an inviting and friendly atmosphere unlike anything else in Atlanta. From RC cars, to our live DJ, to community games and collaborating with local businesses – we always bring our best foot forward, and drag the community along for the ride! We pride ourselves on inclusivity and making sure everyone feels at home. You won’t find another event staff in the city who gets into the crowd and becomes part of the community like ours.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We couldn’t possibly hit it all, but if they’re unfamiliar with Atlanta I’d spend Friday evening hitting up the Vortex – a couple drinks and a great burger unlike any other in the city. Saturday we’re hitting the big spots; the aquarium, World of Coke, and making sure we spend the evening slightly back from the metro and hit up somewhere like the Battery.
Sunday I’d take them out to a car show, or a festival in one of the bigger metro cities, and probably end it on Lake Lanier with margaritas and a sunset. Let them enjoy the variety and different things Atlanta has to offer – while showing my knowledge of my city.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out Nathan Smith for pushing me join the campus activities board – I never knew my passion for events existed until I got there – and Brenda Adams for helping me build the foundation of my understanding and work ethic in that field. I wouldn’t be where I am without the two of them starting out.
