Hi Jarren, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
Good things come to those who wait

I believe that patience is the key to many obstacles in life but it never stands alone. Patience comes in to play once you have done everything humanly possible to ensure your success and you are now waiting on your seeds to grow.

In my career fields patience is preached because there is almost no control in many outcomes or so it seems. I believe that this mind frame keeps people contained in a mindset that leaves them powerless as their life passes them by – I’d much rather be in the group of people who are action takers. So everyday I choose to wake up and take action to develop my career into what I know it will be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a professional actor. My overall goal of becoming an actor is to bring joy to others as so many actors did for me in my youth and throughout my adult life & to represent individuals on the screen that look like me. I aim to create content that makes others laugh and feel like they can escape into an exciting realm and fall in love with the story. I one day will be starting my own production company that does just that – focuses on diversity and joy in television & film.

the point in which I have gotten to today has not been easy in the slightest. Many late nights – busy days and long hours. I have took an endless amount of courses and fine tuned my craft as well as the business side of my career. I am always learning and taking in new information to improve. I am always open to new feedback and strategies that push the bounds of what is normal and optimizing my process to fit what I need to continue my success.

Overall, I have learned to roll with the punches, remain positive in your pursuit and never take no for an answer. There is always a way no matter what you are told. Nothing can stop you if you never give up. I have the ability to make my career and no one or any entity can take that from me as long as I am actively working to achieve my goals. I hold all of the power in my hands.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have recently been into Korean BBQ so we’d definitely have to swing through. I also love nature when its nice out so a hike or visiting the botanical gardens or a park is also a must. I am also rather new to the area so it may be fun to just try some random spots for wine tasting or some creative museums maybe a play or open mic night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The road to where I have gotten and where I am going has been aided by so many. First, my agency Atlanta Models & Talent that believed in my abilities when there was no credit to do so. My acting teachers & life mentors to this point. Lastly,my amazingly supportive family and friends who have had my back since the beginning and throughout the process.
