We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaquasia Holmes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaquasia, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
The Time Consumption. My industry as a hairstylist is such a time consuming job. Being a hairstylist is like working 2 full time jobs. Especially operating my business in Atlanta, cosmetology is a very popular industry. Because the industry is very saturated, it is a consistent job to stay relevant and up to date on everything in my field. Alot of people outside of my industry thinks that being a hairstylist is easy: play in hair then going home. Unfortunately it so much more than that. When I am not working 8-10 hour days, I am updating my social media, responding to emails/appointments, restocking inventory, and marketing my business. It is a constant job
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I got to where I am today solely off following a dream and working hard towards that dream. Getting to the point I am at today came strictly from my Business experience past down from my mother who is a Business owner herself. She taught me not only how to make money but how to deal with people and manage my company. All those things helped mold me into the entrepreneur I am. It may look easy but it’s was extremely hard and vigorous especially in the field I’m in. Cosmetology is a very saturated profession . You have to always be on top of standing out. Throughout my years, I’ve learned a lot of lessons. None that are particularly important, their more so lessons that come from day to day operations. Those things/lessons are what mold me. One thing I want the world to know about my brand is the pure love for the field. My salon motto is always quality or quantity. When people see my name or my brands, I want them to see 100%quality every time. My brand is always about quality work and experience. In my salon, we thrive to prove the best service possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Things I love to do is roller skating at Cascade. Maybe Bowl in Atlantic Station. Dinner at Hudson Grille Downtown. And a strong coffee at our local Starbucks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this to my family aka my circle. My mother, my boyfriend, my sister, my dad…. they all play significant roles in my success in making me the Busienss women I am and strive to be everyday.
