We had the good fortune of connecting with Janiah Simone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janiah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When it came down to wanting to start a business I feel as though it should be something I see myself doing for the rest of my life .I loved being a girly girl even though at some times I couldn’t be , since I could remember I always got a makeup kit for Christmas every year . Once I gotten old enough to wear eyelash extensions I always wore them. I felt like as long as I got my lashes and lipgloss I’m good , I know I’m pretty so it wouldn’t take much . Honestly since a kid I knew & know that I’m going to the top & I know this was the starting point of building my brand and a name for myself , that’s when “ HERWINKS, LLC was created .

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started HERWINKS in 2019 , what makes HER different is the compassion, dedication & thought process that goes into it . When starting out , I received my first batch of inventory in August of 2020, shortly after I ordered my second batch from the same person but was later scammed for $750 . The blessing out of that was I started to research for my own vendors to cut the middle man out & I ended up with the same exact vendor so I still got the same inventory. Running a business overall is super exciting but it definitely has its pros & cons . HERWINKS is the breaking point of generational curses . HER will be the definition of what Hope , Dreaming and having faith looks like . The hardest part about running a business I feel is staying consistent through it all cause you sometimes don’t know where to start , you just have to start . Looking back it definitely wasn’t easy especially after getting scammed, I believe that just comes with the game but you definitely learn as you go and I will continue learning as I level up .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestfriend was to come into town we would be out exploring together . I live in Conyers , GA which is about 30 minutes from the city so I haven’t really been outside that much to site see or learn about Atlanta. Honestly being in the city gives me New York vibes , super busy , no parking & a lot of one way streets . I feel like I lowkey get anxiety driving and not knowing where I’m going but I’m looking forward to learning all about the city of atlanta so I will be outside 2022 .
