We had the good fortune of connecting with Janay Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janay, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

KJJ Financial Services started with me being my first client. After being denied car and mortgage loans, I realized the importance of maintaining not only a good credit score, but also maintaining a good credit history. After figuring out how the credit game worked and repairing my own credit, it motivated me to take action and help my family get their credit in order. Then, my aunt connected me with a family member who had a successful credit repair business. Once I got the information needed, I began going through the process of becoming a Certified Credit Repair Consultant. I was determined to have those credentials because I wanted my future clients to know that I am a legitimate business and that I can be trusted.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I work with people who have less than perfect credit. I’m not just a Credit Consultant, I am also a teacher of credit. What sets me apart from other Credit Specialists is that by the time I have helped my clients reach their credit goals, they are well educated and equipped to maintain a good credit status. My goal for my clients is to help repair their credit and teach them the importance of having good credit. Some, if not most of my peers were not taught about the importance of credit. So, I believe that this is a part of my purpose in life.
The letters K, J, and J are my two year old son’s initials. He is my “Why”, and my motivation and I want to leave a legacy for him so that one day he can help his generation.

I’m most proud of my accomplishments.
My credit repair journey started in 2017. As soon as I took that leap of faith to start my own credit business, it took a life of its own. I feel proud when I get those phone calls, emails and text messages from clients saying how much their score went up in just 2 months. It gives me a sense of pride when I see evictions, bankruptcies, late payments, Chexsystems, repossessions, public records, collections, charge-offs & inquiries removed from their credit reports. That lets me know that my work isn’t in vain. It is the best feeling ever! My motto is: Don’t worry. It’s fixable. Things happen. Now let’s get it done!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The city of Savannah has so much to do! My favorite places to go are:
River Street is a must!. You’ll enjoy great food, entertainment, and shopping for souvenirs.
You can enjoy brunch at B Matthew’s Eatery on Bay St., and don’t forget the bubbly mimosas.
You should definitely stop at River Street Sweets/Savannah’s Candy Kitchen for some homemade pralines.
Check out the rooftop at Sorry Charlie’s for their famous Rockefeller steamed Oysters.
For sightseeing, use The Old Town Trolley Tours Of Savannah.
If you really want to experience laughter and fun, you and your friends should try Savannah’s #1 Party Bike – The Pedal Pub, Savannah Slow Ride or Savannah Sip & Cycle
