Meet Janae Douglas | Graphic Designer & Brand Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janae Douglas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janae, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
All of my life I’ve had an intense passion for the arts that lead me to be in different creative outlets. I’ve done dance, speech, and band to name a few. But as I grew older and graduated from school, a lot of my opportunities changed. I’ve been doing graphic design since I was 10 and found it to be something that I really love. I chose to pursue a creative career because it allows me the freedom I need to express myself and show off my passion for art.

What should our readers know about your business?
One of the biggest reasons why I love being a graphic designer is because it’s given me the opportunity to help as many people as possible. I have a unique chance to use my creativity and education to help change the black business community. I love getting to know my clients and getting to meet people through social media. With my business, I am helping teach others the basics of business and branding. It isn’t easy being in this industry especially with all the competition that I have but as a competitive person, I welcome the competition because it forces me to really buckle down and research methods that do and don’t work for my business. I’ve learned that the only way to succeed in business is to have a millionaire mindset. In order to succeed, I had to shift the way I was thinking and put myself in my clients shoes so that I could figure out what exactly I needed to do in order to help them succeed. I want the world to know that my business is more than just business cards and logos but it’s an opportunity to learn and to become the business owner of your dreams.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shoutout to my grandmother, Annie Lockhart. Thank you for pushing me to always follow my dreams and to let my creativity be the light that guides me down the path of life. I also would like to thank my parents, cousin LaQuana, and my speech coach Mr. Shaunwell Posley. Without all of you, I would’ve never grown into the passionate and creative woman I am today. Thank you!
