Meet Jana Rife | E-RYT 500 Yoga & SUP Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jana Rife and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jana, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Yes. This quote has been hanging on my studio wall for over 12 years. It reminds me to keep moving forward towards my dream, even if it’s risky.
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.”
Henry David Thoreau

What should our readers know about your business?
This is my 11th year teaching SUP classes on the water. I started my business after a SUP and Yoga teacher training. I began with just 2 paddle boards and 1 regular client.
My business has grown a lot since then.
Hanalei SUP Yoga offers a variety of classes 5 days a week. Originally starting with SUP Yoga and Intro to SUP. Now we offer PaddleFit, Meditation, Yin, Glow & Flow Aqua Yoga and more.At Hanalei SUP Yoga, clients get to experience the incredible mind-body benefits of being in nature and on the water. Standing on the board for the first time might feel intimidating but the sense of accomplishment they feel by the end of class is overwhelmingly fulfilling.
I also offer a SUP Yoga Teacher Training certification course as well as a World Paddle Association certification training.
During the off season I lead retreats to amazing destinations. My favorites are Arizona, Utah, Hawaii, the Florida Springs and Costa Rica. My retreats have been selling out quickly. Some as quick as a day. Clients rave about the experiences. They love the fact that they can just sign up and I take care of all of the details. They are guaranteed to try something new, conquer a challenge, find some peace and experience pure joy with like mined new friends.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well of course our weekend SUP classes at Red Top Mountain State Park on Lake Allatoona. That’s a fun way to get movement in and be outside in nature.
For shopping, I have to recommend the Cotton Mill Exchange in Canton. Hanalei Bath is located right inside the entrance. The Cotton Mill Exchange has such a variety of products. Everything from antiques, handmade items and home furnishings. It really has something for everyone,
For dinner, I recommend POPS in Canton. It’s not far from the Mill. It’s fresh Italian food. I highly recommend the shrimp salad.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband is my biggest fan, my cheerleader and my partner in my business. He has encouraged me through all of my ventures.
He’s worked lots of late nights helping me with my soap business. He’s also an instructor in my SUP business. He plays an important role teaching new clients how to paddle board. He is very patient and has a way of helping them feel very comfortable on the water.
