We had the good fortune of connecting with Blakeley Clark and Jana Bartlett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blakeley & Jana, is there something you believe many others might not?
The old adage in sales and service, “the customer is always right.” This is such a delicate dance…a dance between truly listening to our clients and being a valuable part of their team while also having confidence in our expertise and experience. We must gracefully guide our clients and offer the best solutions to reach their intended goals. We must also set clear boundaries from the beginning to establish mutual respect and make sure everyone is on the same page with expectations on both sides. As a marketing and communications agency that partners with a huge array of businesses of different sizes in a variety of industries, we absolutely love working with experts in their field that are so passionate about what they do. The magic happens when we acknowledge each other’s strengths and yield to each other’s expertise.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A little bit about CB: Chatterbox is a virtual boutique marketing and communications agency based in metro-Atlanta. We build brand awareness and loyalty through strategic development and integrated campaigns. Because of our size, expertise, and unique access to experienced marketing professionals in the field, we are able to provide a seamless experience and unparalleled results for each client. While we offer a wide range of marketing and communications services, we specialize in branding, graphic design, website development, photography, and social media strategy & management. A little bit about what we value: Our Chatterbox Contributors are a source of our strength; they share our values and are highly experienced and talented. As a virtual agency, we provide a unique, flexible work environment for our team. We believe in work/life balance. The nature of the service we provide hinges on the quality of our creative professional team. Because of our structure, we allow for our contributors to work the way they work best, without the constraints of a traditional brick and mortar agency office. Our vision is to confidently strengthen other brands by utilizing the unique expertise of our team. We value integrity, relationships, loyalty, open and honest communication, and results. We are small but mighty and strive to give each brand the attention it deserves. A little bit about what drives us: Our families. Being able to live out a work/life balance that they can see everyday and contribute financially. Our daughters. Being able to be strong female role models for them as we live out career goals as well as being present to nurture and raise them. Our team. Being able to provide a non-traditional work environment and opportunities to thrive as fellow entrepreneurs and creative professionals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our Chatterbox team loves ATL and all of the fabulous neighborhoods that make up our city. We do have a few favorite spots that we love to share: For a little Atlanta history, fabulous crab legs, and a cold beer, we’d go to Six Feet Under, which overlooks Oakland Cemetery, and our CB Social Media Contributor happens to live right next door. For a little art and stroll, we’d take a walk around the Atlanta Beltline and pop in to our Web Developer’s office to say, “hey!” For a little inspiration, we’d go to a GROVE women’s gathering at Passion City Church. For a theatre fix, we’d go to the Fox Theatre. Then, a road trip would be necessary to our beloved Athens for live music, great food, and a stroll along the campus and downtown streets where the Chatterbox co-founders met & hang out with our fabulous UGA interns in the Classic City.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We truly don’t know how to narrow down our shoutout to one person, group, organization, or book. Our “foundational” shoutout would be to the University of Georgia’s Grady School that gave us the solid foundation in advertising and journalism along with our parents who have supported and encouraged every step along the way. Our “in the messy middle” shoutout would be to mentors who have come alongside us and selflessly shared their time and wisdom: Staci Mandrell, Tahirah Mahan-Thomas, Jennifer Ingram, our SCORE mentors, University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center, and VoyageATL for doing such a fabulous job shining a light on business and talent that may not otherwise be in the spotlight. Our “In the trenches” shoutout would be to our team of amazingly gifted contributors who have stretched and grown along with us in the crazy world of entrepreneurship while continuously stretching themselves and encouraging each other along the way.
