We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamorrey Gosha and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamorrey, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One piece of advice that I wholeheartedly disagree with is “start small and build up”. I’m a firm believer that if God grants you BIG vision, don’t minimize it.

Often times, we’re guilty of limiting our abilities based on what people perceive to be the normal “ladder to success”. However, BIG VISION can come to pass on Day 1 (with, of course, a lot of work.)

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the founder and executive director of the Faith-based, service-driven, nonprofit, The Focus Initiative that serves five counties between East Alabama and West Georgia through its boys mentorship program, family support project “The Immanuel Project”, and its three-fold scholarship program that serves high school seniors, CTSO students, and adults continuing education. Most notably, we were able to raise $20,000 in just eight months for our scholarship program and service projects.

I am also a licensed Christian minister and an uprising senior at Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama majoring in Elementary Education.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Atlanta, I LOVE Skyline Park. The food, atmosphere, and attractions are amazing. Although parking can sometimes be hectic, it’s a great environment.

Back home in Phenix City, Alabama, I love to go to nearby Columbus, Ga. and enjoy the Uptown Riverwalk.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story is nothing without God! He’s the one who enables me to do all that I do.

I would like to also credit my mom, Natasha, who’s a major support and my family.

Lastly, I’d like to dedicate this article to my great-grandmother, Katie Bell Jackson, who passed away at the age of 99 in 2021.
