We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamira Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamira, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Birmingham, AL and was born and raised. I was a young mother at the age of 15 & decided to do Army Logistics where I was over 15 trucks or more in the hospital fleet maintain maintenance report and inventory of pharmaceuticals . As a Soldier I loved packing the containers for deployments or field exercises. If the Army had a container that needed to be packed or cleaned out I always wanted to volunteer for that detailed. I retired from the Army in 2016 and met my husband whos a truck driver; my husband always said he wanted to have his own company so I did the research for three years to understand the logistical structure between a shipper, carrier, broker, & dispatcher. I got where I am today by researching and understanding the industry because it a lot of pieces to the trucking puzzle that no one talks about.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I want to say starting a business is not easy you must pray everyday and understand that running any business is not a race. I am an asset brokerage and timing is everything on both the brokerage and trucking side. I must say you must understand the business and have your policies and procedures in place so when you do land your first client you are ready and you dont have to get ready like I did. I always knew how to have a conversation with anyone but in a business you have to understand that its certain thing you can do or say to anyone. Your brand is the backbone of your name. It’s never easy starting a business because you have to spend to make money and you must market yourself. I Jamira is a very humble, outspoken and honest person and please believe if I can not do something I will let you know upfront.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Ruth Chris and downtown savannah to ride the riverside boat.
