Meet Jamila Glover: Mom + Entrepreneur = Mompreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamila Glover and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamila, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I think the most important thing that I’ve done as a parent is to show my children that “With God All Things Are Possible” Mathew 19:26. Becoming a mom at the age of 16 and then later on in life becoming a single mother of two boys was a huge challenge in itself. However my boys never saw me give up or give in. They watched me as I put my faith in God and worked hard towards pursuing all of my life goals and dreams. They have witnessed first hand that a teenage mother, from the westside of Atlanta is capable of owning and operating a successful black owned business all while raising two amazing, intelligent, responsible young men! I have created a solid foundation that will have an impact on their lives forever and will be passed down to future generations as well!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I currently own and operate three successful businesses. I am the owner of 1.Beautiful Lyfe Creations- An Event Planning Company. 2.Owner of BLK- Beautiful Lyfe Kreations – A Mentor Program For Black Women. 3.Co-Founder of J.Rose Closet- A Clothing Boutique. I feel that each of my businesses show a different reflection of myself. In my event planning business I am able to show my creative side by taking a persons vision and truly bring it to Lyfe with an event and experience that they will never forget. With my mentoring program I am able to pour into other woman all the knowledge and wisdom that I have obtained throughout my life in order to help them along their journey of Lyfe. With the clothing boutique, I am able to help women feel confident in the clothes that they choose to wear! For me, starting a business is actually the easy part, but maintaining a successful business is the challenging part. In order to overcome the many challenges that may arise, I simply make a conscious decision to keep going no matter what. Each and every day I will continue to put one foot in front of the other, walking by faith and not by sight!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anyone visiting the Great City of Atlanta should make sure they do few things while here. My bestie and I would definitely have brunch at one of the many great restaurants that offer great brunch, bottomless mimosas and amazing entertainment. We would also take the time to enjoy a few museums and visit a few historic spots to take in the real Atlanta culture. For dinner, we would definitely check out a nice restaurant, and for the night life we would find a nice lounge to chill and listen to music. I didn’t name any specific places because there are just sooo many great places to visit here in Atlanta. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my Shout Out to GOD and my entire village of supportive family members and friends. Without them, the person I am today would not be possible. My faith in God has given me the strength needed to face every obstacle that has come my way. My family and friends have been there through it all! Whether it was giving me some encouraging advice, helping me out with my children while I worked, purchasing a product or service from my business, or even coming to assist me with a business project or event, no matter what, they have always been right there when I needed them. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by a loving and caring village!
