Meet JaMel Stewart | Freight Dispatcher & Logistics Coordinator

We had the good fortune of connecting with JaMel Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JaMel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting Twelve2 Highway Logistics was a process of “just starting and taking a leap of faith”. Prior to the launch of my business, I was at a point in life where failure wasn’t a option and I had a, “this has to work by any means” mindset.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The most inspiring aspect of business is being able to be a service to others. Being able to project the knowledge I’ve gained throughout business and use it to to assist someone else on their journey is what keeps me motivated and uplifted. I strive to enforce integrity, service and commitment to every person I connect with, which these particular traits reflects the core values of my business. Twelve2 Highway Logistics, LLC is a independently owned Freight Dispatching Company that strives off integrity, service and commitment throughout the logistics/transportation industry. Our daily operations are based out of Tuscaloosa AL and Birmingham, AL, but it is our privilege to work with all inquired Owner Operators & Small Fleet owners throughout the U.S.
On the journey of becoming an entrepreneur, failure is sometimes the best teacher. The many failed tasks and hardships I’ve encountered is what has granted me the business mindset and wisdom I have as an entrepreneur today. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is what’s keeps the fuel burning as I face each obstacle that leads to success. Staying true to yourself, doing what’s best for you and knowing that at the end of the day, only you have to live with the decisions you make. Therefore, putting your well being first and doing what makes you happy is all that matters. Each day I remind myself to “Keep Going”, because I know tough times don’t last and as long as you’re trying to do better, better will come. This particular phrase is what keeps me discipline as I plan to overcome any challenges ahead.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Tuscaloosa is home to The University of Alabama and “The Strip”. The strip is the ideal place to visit when visiting Tuscaloosa due to the historic Bryant Denny Stadium and the many night clubs, bars and restaurants. However, throughout the city there are a few restaurants and lounges to visit such as, Spade’s, Crimson Lounge, King’s Hookah Lounge, Reggae Flava, The 205, Archibald’s & Woodrow’s, The Five, Club 205, Catch A Taste and many other spots. The River Walk, Lake Tuscaloosa as well as a plethora of museums and tourist areas to visit to provide you with a overview of what Tuscaloosa has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The journey began when I trusted God’s plan instead of my own. I was placed in a position where my original plan needed redirection. Initially, I planned to hold off on my Freight Dispatching business until the following year (2022) so I could continue pursuing my original journey towards Real Estate (2021), but God had other plans. Therefore, I owe everything to God as well as Isiah Nance (Nance Logistics) and TJ Blackwell (Blackwell Logistics, LLC), two guys that influenced the start of my business.
