We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamee Denson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamee, what matters most to you?
My daily mantra is to be your best self. I cannot stress the importance of authentically being who you are and giving 100% to everything that you do. If you can of course. Even if you can only give 60%, that 60% is actually 100% if that’s all that you have to give. Being authentically yourself is something that attracts the right people to you. The people that are supposed to love you for who your are and truly support your business. I know that there is a lot of pressure, especially when it comes to social media, to keep up with the latest trends and to please the masses. I feel as though the key to sustained success is engaging in what feels right for you and no one else. That way you not only feel amazing about your product/service, but you also build that rapport and community within your craft.

What should our readers know about your business?
My Pilates brand is named Sculpted. Within the Multi Fitness community, we call it Multi Sculpted. Aside from the normal focus on posture, balance, strength, and core, I love to push my members to focus on the smaller things, and push through the sets of each movement. I am always cuing them to breathe, squeeze that core, and point those toes! I am super quick to have them redo a set if I feel like they can push more. I generally want them to feel as though they have worked all the muscles in their body.

I am most proud of the amount of time that I gave myself to really study and develop a love for Pilates. I did not allow myself to teach until I felt like I was 1000% ready. I am also proud of the growth of the development of my class structure and teaching style. It was not an easy process. It took a lot of research, mentorship, and practice.

The major lesson I learned along the way was to make it my own. There are thousands of Pilates instructors but only one of me. I’m athletic, I’m powerful, I’m goofy, and I try to make my classes as personable as possible. I want each client to enjoy themselves and not only feel like it’s just another group exercise class.

I want the world to know that life is what you make it and that pushing past your fears is where the growth happens. I have a bigger than imaginable vision for my brand and I’m excited to Xperience it expand into much much more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Atlanta; there is PLENTY to do. A popular area here is the Beltline. There you can go for a walk/run, shop, or grab food. I personally love finding small book shops or coffee shops to sit and read or journal on chill days. However, if I had a friend in town, I would take them kayaking or tubing on the Chattahoochee, hiking in the mountains in north GA, or anything outside. Some things that I would love to do that I have not yet include the Beat the Bomb Paint Explosion, Splatter, pottery spinning, or even the new Sandbox VR Experience looks pretty cool! Other than that, if you’re looking for something free to attend, there is always a festival!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would absolutely love to shoutout Multi Fitness Gym. I would not have the platform that I have if it were not for this organization. I started as a group fitness trainer, and am now the director of marketing for the brand. The door was also opened for me to start my own Pilates brand and for that I am extremely thankful. I enjoy being apart of the team. We are a community of people who enjoy exercising and making that lifestyle change. We pride ourselves on our commitment to community, quality and versatility, and we make every decision with the best interest of each member in mind.
