We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamecia Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamecia, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is having God first in my life and having the support of my loved ones. This support has enabled me to fly without falling. There’s a security in knowing that as a last resort, they will keep me upright. Both encourages me to pick myself up and dream an even bigger dream! With this, I have no fear being my truest authentic self through my music and the peoples acclimation. These factors are a few of the integral parts behind the success of my brand. For starters, heal yourself from past endeavors, pick yourself up, improve your game, and dream a bigger dream!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most proud and excited for my debut single ‘Are You Ok?’, dropping on all platforms this year and reaching the masses! Undoubtably, come every new year, many people experience depression. My single ‘Are You Ok’ speaks on checking in on yourself and then checking in on someone else. The key is to genuinely ask yourself ‘Are You Ok’? After that, genuinely ask the next person are they ok. Many times, when people are asked how they’re doing, their initial response is to say that they’re doing ok, even if that’s not the case. This is a prime example of a conditioned response.

Trust me, I use to do this a lot before acknowledging this unhealthy pattern! I would use this response whenever I was depressed or uneasy. Whether it was to avoid conflict or shield myself from feeling ashamed and embarrassed about my feelings. I was screaming on the inside, yet only I could hear this voice. Saying that I was ok didn’t make what I was going through easier to bear. Once I began to acknowledge my truth through self-reflection, slowly but surely I got better everyday.

We can all agree that life is not easy. I want you to know that life can get better, and it starts with you acknowledging this simple question, ‘Are You Ok’? A lot of our people bear the same emotions, but different circumstances. We need each other to learn from each other. So next time you hop on a call with that friend, talk to that coworker, or hang out with that family member, look them in the eyes and genuinely ask ‘Are You Ok’?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for the week, I would want to treat them to the best culturally diverse experience! For starters, I would treat them to brunch at Batsi’s. This restaurant will give you a true euphoric experience on Sundays. The food is so delicious and vibrant! This also comes with great service, a live DJ, good vibes, and a fully furnished patio to enjoy the sun. Following this, I would treat them to other food spots such as Bella’s, Buttermilk Biscuit Atl, The Boujee Southerner, Life Bistro, Caked by Petite, Sweet Thangs Carnival Eats Atlanta, and many more!

I love creating art! I am a firm believer that painting is healing for the soul. Therefore, I would definitely treat them to The Splatter Studio! Here you’re able to not only get messy but also put your feelings and emotions on a canvas! Throughout the week we’d also experience the MLK national historic site, the Georgia Aquarium, the Botanical Garden, Tutu Tufting, Buckhead Artist Co., the Fern Bank Museum, and Your 3rd Spot! Your 3rd Spot is a family fun spot located in Buckhead Atlanta. They have great food, drinks, beignets, and plenty of games to connect with family and friends!

As an artist in Atlanta, I would definitely have to treat my friend to one of my shows! Secret underground concerts are my thing! Here you can get the most purest and true artist experience. Whether it’s viewing spoken word, poetry, jazz, musicians and instrumentation, and live paintings, the experience is an unforgettable one!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I would love to give a huge shoutout to my friends and family. I truly want to thank them for the morals they have instilled in me, for the love they have embedded in me, and for the immaculate support they’ve shown me throughout my musical journey. For those ones, I profess my profound and overwhelming love for you! While on this journey called life, you hold a special place in my heart. An organization that I would be honored to give a shout-out to is the Project Break Thru Community. I can’t express enough how much I appreciate your help on my journey! Whether it’s direct or indirect help, you’ve had a major impact on how I view myself. You’ve helped me to visualize what the best version of myself looks like. With this, I have become the arrow to the target! The self work, affirmations, breath work, reflections, and just showing up for yourself and others everyday is astoundingly inspirational! I believe in your mission and just want to say thank you.
