Meet Jalissa M | Marketing Specialist/Publicist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalissa M and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalissa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew that was destined for entrepreneurship, because I had an urge to generate revenue from a young age. Starting a business came naturally, I began planning business ideas while I was in high school! I’ve lived some of those very dreams today.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
M2C Management and Entertainment Group founded in 2016. I had previous experience in the entertainment industry working as a model, but I found a better fit for myself behind the scenes. Im not camera shy or anything lol, Im more apt to technicalities and solving problems. After gaining my degree in Business Management, I developed a new interest in marketing so I decided to give it a shot. You’ll never know until you try right?

Fast forward to now….
I’ve gained a ton experience over the years, and I’ve worked with some notable artists within the industry. Im most proud of being able to stand on the morals and values that I placed upon myself to ensure success. I didn’t have to take the promiscuous route and I was still able to sit in rooms that I couldn’t have imagined. That’s what’s sets me apart from the rest, aside from my bubbly personality lol. I’m a hard worker, and I’d rather lead with my brain. I don’t have to draw attention by using my aesthetics, and t’s always worked for me.

Staying focused on my goals helped me to reach the success that i have thus far. I still have a long way to go, and many goals to reach but I’ll never give up, I’m always out networking, and learning new things. When I 1st opened my business, I didn’t mind freelance work, and that enabled me to build experience that I could use today. The path wasn’t easy because the entertainment industry is very cut throat. It’s not for the weak hearted. I had times where I was told I was too fat, or too tall and that used to bother me when I was younger. It’s also not easy for women in the industry because it’s male dominated. You know how that goes…. But as long as you stay focused and stand your ground you can do it. If I did you can too. Just don’t stop!

I’ve learned to develop a thick skin, and stop wearing my heart on my sleeve. It’s a dog eat dog world, and you can’t be weak if you want to reach the top.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends visit, we are going to eat!! I love food lol. My favorite restaurant is Del Frisco’s in Atlanta so that’s definitely a first stop. If my girls wanted to go clubbing, we’d hit Josephine lounge, Opium, or Gold Room then we’d have to shop… Phipps plaza me please??? Atlanta is 1 of the top cities in the US, but being a native I’m immune to the festivities lol. I’d suggest going downtown and exploring everything you can!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to to dedicate my shoutout to my mom and children. My mom, Cassandra always pushed me to be the best by ensuring that I engaged in extra curricular activities like Beta Club, debate team, and math derbies. My 3 beautiful babies Chase, Christian, and Madison keep me focused now. They are the reason I keep going! Fun fact, my business is named from their intials; M2C. Get it? Madison, Chase, Christian 😀
