We had the good fortune of connecting with Jakecia White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jakecia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Whiteville, NC but grew up there and Little River/Brooksville/Longs/North Myrtle Beach,SC. Both of my grandparents were entrepreneurs my grandfather Ed Davis sold cars owned two car lots, a tire shop, sold moonshine, had a club and more. My grandmother Louise Davis had multiple rental properties from going back to lumberton, NC to where she and my grandfather lived. And she the neighborhood candy lady. Growing up already them as a child I watched them work for themselves. I can say that it’s in my DNA from a child just a different path. By me being raised in that time with them. It showed me that whatever I put my mind to I can do it, keep God first and in everything you do, always do people right, and even if things go left you don’t have to go left with the different people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One thing that sets me apart from others is I’m for my customers and clients. My personality and customer service.

I am most proud of the things God has allowed me to do. He has continued to show me that anything can change as long as I continue to go to him. And put him in front of everything.

God got me to where I am personally and professionally.

It’s definitely not easy it seems like it’s more harder to do right and live right. But I still keep going no matter what comes my way. I pray and at times fast to get clarity, understanding and get back focused.

Stay consistent, focused, driven, motivated, confident and ready for anything. Always make sure you take care of you first so you can take care of business.

I am a walking testimony I should have died couple times but God still has me here to help, and show others that anything is possible. No matter what it looks like keep going. No matter what anyone says keep going.

My brand StylesbyKeys and J&K Lab was what I needed to break some generational barriers. I not only need to do something different but something that helps others. We all need someone that isn’t just for self and actually here for your best interest.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The places here in Columbia,SC for time out to enjoy. Would be bowling, brunch’s at different spots mainly by people who do events. Paint and sips, food trucks that be set up in different locations. Gamecocks basketball games and a lot more.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is in memory of my grandparents late Ed Davis & Lousie Davis, My Grandmother Myrtle White, My brothers, Terrance (Toonk) Wilson, Larry (Zig/Snake) Wilson, Brandon Harshaw Sr, My Sisters Nieta Spann, and Karen. Aunt Wanda, Uncle Fox and all my family and friends
