Meet Jai Jefferson | Visual Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jai Jefferson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jai, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One piece of conventional advice I would challenge is the idea that you need the most expensive equipment to succeed. In reality, what matters most is the person behind the equipment. Qualities like critical and creative thinking are crucial for effective problem-solving. While high-end equipment can certainly produce visually impressive results, without the right mindset and skills, its potential will fall short. Build your skills gradually and focus on establishing a strong foundation. This includes mastering shot composition, understanding light and shadows, and, most importantly, developing the ability to communicate effectively with others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love my art and everything I have done up until now, I do! But I am thrice excited about my potential and the people I will meet along my journey. And I got to where I am now, by being present in what I enjoy doing. The best thing you can be in this world is dependable. I over come the challenges that beset me head-first because what I have learned on my path is that ignoring things only piles up the problems and eventually things will push in to the foreground. I tell myself to remember that I am only an individual with the same 24hrs as everyone else and if I feel content on the things I get done that is all that the day has permitted for me. A bit of a tangent, but my name “Jai” means “Victory” and I have recently rebranded my Instagram as “a life of Jai.” So what I want the world to know about me is that this is a life of victory for me and its not about how fast the things I want are coming towards me but am I enjoying the process and does it bring me solace.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had not seen my best friend in a while and they were back in town… I would suggest we walk and talk at Piedmont Park, probably take some fit pics. After leaving the park I would bring them to my favorite ramen spot called “Jenya.” If we are still lively and smelling good I would take us to live music and/or an art gallery to end the night. And who knows who we might run in to on our escapades.. it is Atlanta by the way.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by many creative individuals who have guided me to where I am today. If I had to single out one group, it would be the Georgia State modeling organization, Infinite Appeal. During my time as a model and creative team member, I not only grew personally but also connected with numerous other creatives who have become friends, supporters, and muses for my work.
