We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaheem Ashby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaheem, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting ‘Kampnine’ was always having a strong love for fashion and streetwear brands since I was about 10 years old. I discovered many things at that age like Supreme and other brands. As I started getting older during my teen years I met a few friends who were also into clothing and skating like Rahman who is the cofounder of Kampnine, and Kevyn who runs “Last of a dying breed” Once we got the right tools to start making clothes it was up.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel like being consistent, coming up with new ideas and executing things right keeps me busy professionally. I like to continuously have many releases every month or two with each drop better than the last.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite area I would say is Soho. It has played a big role in the streetwear community since like the 90s when stores like ‘Stussy’ and ‘Supreme’ first opened. I usually go back from time to time with friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to everyone who has been supporting and keeping me going!!!!
