We had the good fortune of connecting with Jada White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jada, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My balance has shifted from being a workaholic to prioritizing rest over everything. I think every creative goes through this struggle when they first start out. In the beginning, working on your projects are fresh and new. In this phase it’s really easy to get sucked into your work and eventually get burned out. After you go through that, you feel like you can’t let burnout happen again no matter what, which causes you to hold yourself back from your full potential.

Now I am more focused on discovering what work-life balance works best for me instead of sticking to one end of the spectrum. It’s important that I customize my routines to my personal life, instead of following a path someone made for themselves. This will give me the flexibility to embrace all of myself while still keeping me on track and disciplined.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a graphic designer and digital brand strategist. I am also the host (a.k.a. Head Junkie in Charge) of The Self-Love Addict Podcast. What sets me apart from others is that fact that I am me haha! In all seriousness, one of the keys to differentiation in this industry is to be yourself and embrace your unique style. With that said, I am most excited about defining my personality more clearly and letting it shine through my business.

Getting to this professional space has been a JOURNEY!! There have been many ups and downs. It all started with me getting fired from my job and then thrown into the pandemic with the rest of the world. During this rough patch of my life, I sought the face of God and He gave me an assignment: my business and podcast. Whenever I come across an obstacle or am feeling unmotivated, I remember that it’s more than an idea I had. This is a divine assignment and I have to complete it by any mean necessary.

Along the way I have learned my worth and value, I have learned to prioritize rest and self care, and I have learned to love myself in all phases of my business. The most important thing to take away from all this is that entrepreneurship is a process. My business, podcast, and story is still growing and evolving. While there may be ups, downs, and even breaks in between, I will never stop working on this assignment. This is my purpose and I plan to walk in it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This question is interesting because all of my best friends are from the same area as me. If they came home to visit, the first thing we would do is go get drinks and appetizers at happy hour. I would probably take them to this black owned wine and martini bar called Cork & Company. After that we are looking at an evening of bar hoping down granby street until separating and passing out in bed later on that night.

We would spend the next few days exporing some historic sites in the city, visiting museums, and tasting new restaurants. By the end of the week we would be having our farewell turnup at the beach, brunch, and Beachhouse, a club located on the strip.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to God, Family, and Clients. God gave me the business idea and the experiences in my life that equipped me to handle the position of an entrepreneur. I will forever praise Him for that. While my family may not always see the vision, they continue to love and support me anyway. It means a lot to me that I have such an amazing tribe of family and friends that stand behind me no matter what. Lastly, shoutout to my clients, both past a present. My experiences with each of them has molded me into the business woman that I am now. It is because of them that I have been able to grow as a brand strategist and graphic designer.
