We had the good fortune of connecting with Jada Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jada, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
To give you the short version, I have always had a passion for writing and acting. Ever since I was a young girl, I knew that it was something I wanted to pursue. I attended both a performing arts middle school and as well as a performing arts high school where I majored in theatre. During that time, I wrote, directed, and produced my first short films. From there, I went on to study film and television at the Savannah College of Art and Design where I received my BFA. The more immersed in the field I became, the more I knew that working in the creative arts industry was the only path for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I currently work as a Strategic Producer for Cinebody, a video production software company. There, I educate clients on how to best leverage the software as well as execute remote video projects for various purposes. From conceptualization to completion, I aid clients from a variety of industries and fields to produce content. With the entertainment and marketing industries constantly evolving, it is a great feeling to be a part of a new form of creative storytelling.

In college, I launched my own production company, called Je.Simone Productions, where I am able to produce films and aid others in the process from the development stage to distribution. I formed the company to highlight and aid unique voices to tell interesting and entertaining stories. I strive to produce media that will change the narrative that the world is viewed through a homogenous lens.

I actually started off my career as an actress, attending a performing arts school for theatre. The decision to pivot my studies to film and television came easily. Throughout high school, I was able to produce and direct plays as well as short films. With my theatre background and studies in film and television, I now find myself producing and seeking out media in all its forms.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The most notable thing about Atlanta, to me, has to be the food. I’ve had some of the best meals of my life since I moved here and I still haven’t tried everything on my list. Some of my favorite restaurants have been Cafe Intermezzo, The Vick, Food Terminal, and Harue.

Ponce City Market is always a great stop as it has access to the beltline, local vendors, and the rooftop. I find myself walking through there all often. During the warm months, I would take a visitor to explore the different farmers’ markets that pop up throughout the city. During the cold months, I love going the local movie theatre or visiting one of the historic theatres in the city to view a movie or an amazing live production.

To top off the weekend, we’d attend one of Atlanta’s famous Day Brunch Parties held downtown. Those are always so much fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would to shout out my parents who have always been my number one supporters. I told them at 5 years old that I wanted to be an actor and from then on, they have encouraged me with a hundred percent of their energy. From taking me back and forth to auditions in New York City to showing up for all of my on-stage performances. My parents, and in turn, my entire family have always had my back.
